claiming free buds - wouldn't let me change the generic IMEI number

Hello all, I've recently got my S21 Ultra it's fantastic with the promise of free earbuds, but when I went through the process of claiming them it wouldn't let me change the generic IMEI number it puts in. 

However it did ask for an picture of the box with the IMEI number on.

Does anyone know if this matters? 

And will it affect my claim for them?

Have you checked your spam/junk folders for an email confirmation?

I've had email confirmation saying it could take up to 7 days for someone to respond. it gives me a reference number and that, but I'm worried the page where I couldn't change the IMEI might be a problem.
