When finished recording a workout, Strava sync can sometimes take hours

I have my Samsung health app (on the phone) set to sync with Strava. So whenever i record a workout (Cycling, running, walking etc), when the workout is completed, Samsung Health is meant to sync the data with strava.

I have a regular problem where the sync can sometimes take 12 hours approx.

This is an inconvenience because i like to finish my workout then look at the activity straight after in Strava.

I have tried these steps in order to 'force' a Strava sync but it doesn't work:
- Clearing the app's cache
- Force stopping the app and re opening
- Uninstalling the Samsung health updates and reinstalling them / re set the app back up.

I have also recently done a factory reset of the phone in order to fix another issue i was having...the issue survived that.

I am using a gear sport SM-R600NZKABTU

The phone I am using it with is a galaxy S8 plus SM-G955F.

The watch software version is:

Tizen 3.0.0.2

R600XXU1ARC4

Phone software version:

Android 8.0.0

Baseband: G955FXXU1CRD1

Gear app 2.2.20.17113061

Gear plugin 2.2.03.18041051

The gear manager, Samsung health and the watch are all up to date.

My friend has the same issue using a gear s3 with a note 7.

Currently, in order to sync straight away i am resorting to manually exporting the GPX file to the strava website.

This issue is intermittant.

Seriously losing my patience now, been suffering with this known issue for at  least 18mths, it used to  only impact  pm runs, where it would upload next morning which was bad enough but i could live with, now morning runs are not even syncing until at least 24-36 hrs later  complete and utter joke. Got a half marathon coming up soon snd dont want to wait 24 hrs to see my breakdown stats - seriously considering moving to Garmin, or dare i say  it...the dark side😬

Do it, I went from Garmin to galaxy watch and back to Garmin in 3 months. Its not as nice looking, but performance wise, well worth it!

Im still waiting on my friday and saturday morning runs to be uploaded and its after midnight monday. Fed up and as usual samsung bury their heads in sand stating no issues. Theres only one issue and its called samsung. Spent a fortune on a watch that has never done what it was purchased for. If its not one issue its another

Can you not install the strava app from the galaxy store and bypass the s health rubbish? That's how I use my galaxy active and it's pretty flawless, instant updates and very accurate.

Yes I tried the Starva App via my watch to bypass the Health App and is was way out, for one it started my run 5 miles away from where I actually started and then missed out large chunks of my run - If this was reliable then would be perfect. Just can't see why Samsung and Strava just dont get thier heads together to sort the issue out - it's not as if it's only one or two people impacted 😞

If you use Strava then leaving Samsung is the only answer. Even the Strava app on the watch does not work that well. I don't know if Garmin is the only answer, but it's the one that worked for me.

The Strava app recorded a marathon in May to within 0.15 miles and 8 seconds of my official time so assumed it was pretty spot on.
I've just manually mapped yesterday's 26 miles and it only came to 25. It gave me 500m while sitting on the toilet.... I've never lost miles on Strava but I have friends who have lost half a cycle workout using Garmin devices.

I don't understand if your saying the Strava app is good or bad? Either way it doesn't take away how long Samsung take to upload results to strava
