Whats-app messenger on galaxy watch

I have a s8 plus and have just got the galaxy watch 46mm bluetooth model. I have 2 queries

1.with the bluetooth model can u make calls direct from the watch or is it simply used as a remote control to make calls ???

2.can u get whats-app messenger as an actual app on the watch I am receiving WhatsApp messages and can reply or delete etc but without the app on my watch I cant start a conversation of my own ???

I have searched galaxy apps but it is not there, the main reason for the watch was for what's app etc so if I cant get the app it has been a waste of time
