I received my pre ordered Samsung Gear 46mm 2018 watch on September 7th 2018 and have been wearing it often. Remove it for showering and charging and sometimes I sleep with it.
Recently iv noticed this rash developing and it slightly irritates me. The rash area is sore red and it looks like the skin is stretched or burnt. Th picture does bit show as clear as seen in person.
Iv done some googling and found a few people complain about similar rash on the older gear watches. They state it could be the strap and say to try it on the other hand to see if you have an allergic reaction etc.
I have a bit of an issue with this, I am a contractor and work with my hands, if this causes something more serious or stops me from doing my work it would be financially un-beneficial for me.
I have been tested befoe for allergies and my results came back clear so I dont know exactly what going on.
If anybody from Samsung or otherwise can provide some insight into my situation please let me know asap. It's a bit annoying paying 300 quid for a watch that's going to give me a rash
Cheers

Guys, I could suggest a few points to get rid of the red patches,
1. Wear the watch bit loose. Do not wear it tight, as that may cause red patches like allergies due to the strap.
2. Then for the watch sensors allergies,
a. Change the settings to detect the heartbeat manually-Manual Measurement, and not 10 mins interval/continuously. (This improves your battery life as well)
b. Disable the Record REM sleep. Many may not be interested to do this, but from my perspective - my sleep may not be needed to be too accurate. Enabling this really hurts me as something poking me while sleeping. (This improves your battery life as well)
c. Disable the other activities to detect which are not applicable to you. Lowering the detections will reduce the impact.
Basically the smartwatches are designed to improve our lifestyle and health, but there are possibilities to turn them to other way around. And going through this for a longer period may lead to some sort of cancers/health disorders as well in case ignored. So guys, be aware and live safe.

Great ideas for reducing the activity of the HR sensors. I went to the Samsung Health app and for each item modified the settings to not detect REM sleep and to run the HR manually.

We shouldn't have to though.

Exactly, may as well get a normal watch. Very poor from Samsung. Not even one reply that I can see. Never had an issue with Apple and their watches or my Fitbit. I will be going back I think.

I have tweeted Samsung a few times about this thread and they have ignored every mention of it.

I am considering buying the Galaxy watch active 2. I have a severe allergic reaction to nickel. There are two options of the watches, aluminum and stainless steel. The stainless steel contains nickel, so that one is out of the question. Has anybody with a nickel allergy gotten the aluminum watch and did you have any reaction from it?

I ended up selling mine and going back to gear s3. Had not trouble with that one,, then I got the note 10 with free active watch and was worried it would give me same rash. But touch wood it's been fine I have turned all health and heart rate sensors off I can still activate them when I need them
