Rash on part of my wrist from wearing the new 2018 46mm watchRash on part of my wrist from wearing the new 2018 46mm watch

I received my pre ordered Samsung Gear 46mm 2018 watch on September 7th 2018 and have been wearing it often. Remove it for showering and charging and sometimes I sleep with it.

Recently iv noticed this rash developing and it slightly irritates me. The rash area is sore red and it looks like the skin is stretched or burnt. Th picture does bit show as clear as seen in person.

Iv done some googling and found a few people complain about similar rash on the older gear watches. They state it could be the strap and say to try it on the other hand to see if you have an allergic reaction etc.

I have a bit of an issue with this, I am a contractor and work with my hands, if this causes something more serious or stops me from doing my work it would be financially un-beneficial for me.

I have been tested befoe for allergies and my results came back clear so I dont know exactly what going on.

If anybody from Samsung or otherwise can provide some insight into my situation please let me know asap. It's a bit annoying paying 300 quid for a watch that's going to give me a rash

Cheers

Turning off the sensors (heart monitor) helps in some cases, but I didn't even touch the settings. Simple cleaning did the thing... No idea what causes the rash. Some toxic leftovers in production process?

Someone earlier tried to suggest that we all wear the watches to tight... I've been wearing watches since I was 10yo, most of them had rubber bands...

It's depressing... this thread is as old as the watch itself, and up until now there is no official statement or fix or anything plus local samsung support neglect the issue.

I have found their customer service arrogant and condescending when I have needed assistance.

Well it won't get better as I said I gave up on them... thankfully I stopped the rash. I'd suggest getting medical opinion, as its most formal and only way to get a high ground with samsung support. Good luck to you mate hope you fix your watch!

It's quite unbelievable that Samsung have behaved in this way. I'm not sure it's entirely down to different countries, it may even be down to the luck of the draw when it comes to who deals with your claim.

I pushed Samsung UK quite hard in September/October 2018 having suffered pretty nasty burns to my wrist and was given £30 (by bank transfer) in December 2018 towards the cost of replacement straps. I bought a leather strap and a steel strap from Amazon and have had no problems since. I've only actually used the leather one to date.

Applying the screen protector at the back of the watch really helped? I wonder if the sensors are covered, will the reading be accurate? Getting rashes right at the back of the watch due to the green sensors/ heart rate sensors is really concerning.

Since when contact with glass (I got assured its glass)causes rash. If it's the light-protector won't help.

Yeah, I'm going to try that... its strange that it would start up after months of wearing it.

I really hope that's not the case. I think I'm going to try a new band first.
