So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II  HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

...

Moderator edit: Original thread title was "Blue Planet 2 HLG - No Samsung". With the OP's permission, the title was changed on 12/03/2018 to accurately reflect the dominant theme of the thread as it has progressed. If the reader would like to know more about the HLG format, please check out the BBC's page and FAQ's on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/projects/high-dynamic-range Thank you, AntS.

Well this looks like the real deal.  Just ordered mine via live chat.

This is a much better solution than getting the internal iplayer fixed as now all connected devices will work.

I would like to thank everyone on this and the italian board for pushing for this.  Shows what a concerted effort by like minded people can achieve!

Roll on HLG content!

Yep,  if we hadall been  very nice then Samsung might not have felt any need,  but things got heated which I am sure went back to via the mods,  but got to also thank the mods for putting up with us at times.

Been emotional!

Might see members from here on ks owners refund thread if it does not work,  which hopefully will not be the case.

Hold on, how does this work? Is Samsung going to mail you an actual USB drive with the firmware on it, or are they just emailing you the file / download link?

Sending me a USB with the update on it. Said it will be with me within a week and could take a couple of days to dispatch it to me. They would have had no need to ask for my address and could have just emailed us a link to the website with the 1239 update to download. It would seem that would be the quickest and 'cheapest' way to do this but maybe they want to see how many people are actually interested in getting this sooner rather than later.

Maybe in a few days, they might change their approach and give people a timescale as to when it will be uploaded to their site but right now, they are telling me at least that I should receive my USB with the Update within a week.

I checked with US & Canadian tech support and they have no info on this firmware yet. Looks like it's getting released in Europe only for now.

Some updates must be done via usb, the last firmware update was usb only, I downloaded it from the Samsung site.

If they're sending out sticks I'm guessing they want to make sure there's no error with the usb which could cause a serious problem. Just a guess.

Ok I have the firmware.  Installed and can categorically 100% confirm it fixes HLG over HDMI.

As I type I'm using the iPlayer app on my Virgin Media V6 box and Dynasties in in glorious UHD HLG HDR.!!!!

Doesn't look as bright as via the Roku+ so maybe the gamma curve is correct?

Well hope my hat is tasty! Great stuff and well done Samsung,  took a while but got there in the end. I know it does not sort the on board iPlayer but at least gives a work around.  I know think this thread has served its purpose.

That’s great news how did you get the upgrade so quickly?  Was it via USB stick?
