So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II  HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

...

Moderator edit: Original thread title was "Blue Planet 2 HLG - No Samsung". With the OP's permission, the title was changed on 12/03/2018 to accurately reflect the dominant theme of the thread as it has progressed. If the reader would like to know more about the HLG format, please check out the BBC's page and FAQ's on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/projects/high-dynamic-range Thank you, AntS.

Unless the seller advertised that function I don't think you have much chance.

Same as with everything else you buy second hand, from any source: you're not entitled to anything. Your contract is with the person you bought it from (his contract is Samsung ended the minute he sold it to you).

A 2018 owner in Italy has reported that the HLG curve via HDMI is not correct ie washed out as indicated by tarbat using a HD Fury on a KS 2016 TV

Samsung will be working to fix this on a 2018 TV.  Assuming it is the same error on the 2016 they will hopefully be able to build this fix into the HLG via HDMI fix hence possibly why it has taken some time

Imagine thr response on here if a fix was released and  the gamma issue not corrected

2018 TV's? That's interesting.

I missed that about 2018 models. So are you saying their 2018 have problems and what are they?

I posted about this a week ago.  See http://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/TV-Audio-Video/KS-OWNERS-ONLY-Sky-to-introduce-HDR-content-on-Sky...

It wouldn't suprise me if Samsung have got the HLG EOTF wrong.

This must be happening only with the Roku, because I am not getting a washed out look at all via my internal YouTube app or via HDMI from my M9500 player's YouTube app when viewing HLG content. Also not getting this washed out look when viewing HLG via USB.

There will be a diference when comparing HDR10 with HLG, as HDR10 will look punchier, but HLG is not far off in terms of quality, and certainly not washed out on my set.

What does everyone think of this: https://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Sky-Q/Which-setting-to-watch-sky-uhd-content-in/td-p/2878456

Apparently Sky supports HDR10+ according to that thread.

No, it's just a typo from a newbie asking a question about their TV! They are asking if they should use the HDR+ special viewing mode, and typed HDR10+ by mistake; we know this because there's no "HDR10+" mode on any of these TVs.

I've posted there to nip it in the bud.

There will be many, many more of these, thanks to Samsung's nomenclature.

Thanks Dr, doing the good fight as usual.

I dispair at the amount of rubbish 'advice' that poor person was getting from people with inch-thick signatures praising Sky to the hilt!

All gone silent here. Does anyone know if the Sky issue in Italy has been resolved.
