So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II  HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

...

Moderator edit: Original thread title was "Blue Planet 2 HLG - No Samsung". With the OP's permission, the title was changed on 12/03/2018 to accurately reflect the dominant theme of the thread as it has progressed. If the reader would like to know more about the HLG format, please check out the BBC's page and FAQ's on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/projects/high-dynamic-range Thank you, AntS.

so that will mop up some more Samsung KS owners who weren't particularly bothered about the football but will be miffed about not being able to see the tennis in its full glory on their expensive TVs!

When more and more UHD content is rolled out by the Beeb then Samsung will find themselves on the receiving end of a tidal wave of complaints, hopefully.

People who are content with Roku perhaps should keep in mind that if Roku does upgrade firmware in the future it may stop working.  This is my main concern. Shame because I really like my ks9500 TV.

I'm very impressed with my KS9500 /Roku setup too!  Went I to local Currys just now to speak to someone who could demonstrate a 75" LG OLED against a Sony and Samsung equivalent.  Unfortunately I got a smart a**e who tried to convince me Sky are already transmitting HDR! What a prat! I never got to demo - absolutely outrageous - he suggested I didn't know what I was talking about - with *****s like this how the h**l do they sell TVs?  Makes me want to go through the misselling process just for sake of it.  Anyone had any joy with Currys?

Welcome to the Roku+ club.  Expect much gnashing of teeth when they update the firmware and it works like other connected devices!

Is there anyway we can stop firmware upgrade? Or revert to previous version of roku  firmware?

People rarely do. They are an absolutely atrocious business IMHO.  They flatly lie in every other sentence. It's deep in their DNA. Please, promise me now, whatever happens - you won't buy another TV from Curry's?

I won't even buy batteries from Curry's. It's just not worth it.

I promise!  But has anyone succeeded on getting money back on the Misselling grounds - earlier in this thread (now quite lengthy) nobody had but would be interested in anyone with recent experience

Perhaps trying it on a Wired Ethernet adapter like this:

Are you saying that the Chromecast Ultra has the UHD Iplayer app?  I'd love to hardwire the Roku SS+ but it is strictly WIFI only. I don't know of any other boxes or sticks that have the UHD Iplayer.

Richer Sounds and now JL have agreed refunds, just waiting for Currys to realise the dongle is not an app and then they will be forced to comply too:

I never try demo on Currys shop floor, too much light either go to richer sounds or any other specialists shop, and they may even throw in discount as well
