iPlayer HLG/UHD HDR on Samsung’s J and K Series TVs

Out of interest, what do people have Dynamic Contract set at for HDR content such as this? Get lots of different suggestions online!

I have to agree on the Roku+ here and its stunning.  No problem getting on.  Super smooth as well on the Roku as set to 50 Hz

Ok guys, here are my findings having rushed out to buy a roku SS+ this morning. All set up properly and logged on in time to watch the Denmark-Peru match. on half time as i type.. Initial thought was "gosh, the footballers look really small". I'm viewing on a 55js8000 (so no hlg). So I synced my iplayer on my iphone and did a screen grab of what is being broqdcast on the bbc in HD and managed to take a photo of the actual TV screen displaying the UHD iplayer streaming trial. You can see from the time bar in top left of each pic they are only a fraction of a second out. From the two pics I'm posting you'll see that the normal HD broadcast is a zoomed in section of the UHD. Does this matter? Absolutely it matters to me, effectively, if you're watching the UHD stream, it's as if you're sitting in the cheap seats at the back (wider field of view) but at least you have 20/20 vision, whereas if you're watching in HD in OTA BBC then it's like you're sitting in the best seats but you forgot to take your glasses with you.. The close up shots do look good in UHD but I'm finding the actual gameplay is rather less immersive seeing as the point of view includes so much pitch to action ratio.  (Don't look at the quality of these 2 pics they're only here to flag up the different aspect of the broadcast image.)UHDHD

I disagree.   I did wonder about why we are zoomed out" but the clarity of the PQ is such that the game play is better and equates more to the spectator view.   Long range passes can be forecast better as well as off the ball incidents.

TBF the BBC did say this was probably how they'd use UHD cameras at sporting events. I'm sure most will be happy with the perceived increase in PQ, personally I prefer the sort of field of view I've been used to, after watching sports on TV for decades. I hope they don't do this to Rugby or Snooker.

Need to get out more (to see live games) or go to spec savers or upgrade TV - only kidding mate

It's also interesting to compare the Football loop trial that's still showing. Because the action is framed like a traditional broadcast match, nice and tight on the action with plenty of field of view to follow the game, only much, much sharper.

ps. I don't want to watch a match from the point of view of a member of the general public at the back of the stands, I want to see it from the point of view of a well placed dove.
