So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II  HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

...

Moderator edit: Original thread title was "Blue Planet 2 HLG - No Samsung". With the OP's permission, the title was changed on 12/03/2018 to accurately reflect the dominant theme of the thread as it has progressed. If the reader would like to know more about the HLG format, please check out the BBC's page and FAQ's on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/projects/high-dynamic-range Thank you, AntS.

This could be of use re HDR10+ for 2016 TVs. https://news.samsung.com/global/how-hdr10-creates-like-real-images

I have a 55" K9000 amd distinctly unimpressed especially re HLG as Freeview are experimenting with it as well. I shall be taking it up with John Lewis.

Might be worth going down the mis-selling route if you're looking at a refund/replacement.

Thanks for the link

Here's (told not censored now) an extract from Samsung's own news page, which was promised last year! That is absolutute proof of miss selling.

HDR10+ incorporates dynamic metadata that allows a high dynamic range (HDR) TV to adjust brightness levels on a scene-by-scene or even frame-by-frame basis. With the ability to display outstanding contrast with detailed highlights and a richer range of colors, HDR10+ produces images that are much closer to the director’s intent.

All of Samsung’s 2017 UHD TVs, including its premium QLED TV lineup, support HDR10+. In the second half of this year, Samsung’s 2016 UHD TVs will gain HDR10+ support through a firmware update.

“As an advanced HDR10 technology, HDR10+ offers an unparalleled HDR viewing experience — vivid picture, better contrast and accurate colors — that brings HDR video to life,” said Kyoungwon Lim, Vice President of Visual Display Division at Samsung Electronics. “We’re excited to work with world-class industry partners, including Amazon Video, to bring more amazing HDR content directly to our 2017 UHD TVs, including our QLED TV lineup.”

Might try to deny the HLG support for BBC Iplayer but can not get out of the above!!!!!

Also sent an email to Currys, but through that ‘Resolver’ website (which I thought I’d heard of before as I had an account with them for a PPI claim)

Hi, can you share the retailer's details and how long it took and more importantly if you dealt with retailer or Samsung directly?

I have just read that article and can not see that. Here is an extract from it

How can I get HDR10+? Samsung have already announced that they will include HDR10+ on their 2018 models and that many of their 2017 models and some of their 2016 models will add support via a firmware update. Panasonic will include the technology on all their 2018 TVs and add it to their 2017 models from the EX750 and above via a firmware update. Philips, Hisense and TCL also plan to add HDR10+ to their 2018 models and possibly some of their 2017 models as well. Since HDR10+ has yet to be added to the Ultra HD Blu-ray specifications, it's impossible to know whether existing players will be able to support HDR10+ but we can certainly expect Samsung and Panasonic to add the technology their 2018 players once the specifications have been updated. As for 20th Century Fox, although they plan to release Ultra HD Blu-ray discs with HDR10+ just as soon as is practical that might change now that they have been bought by Disney. In the meantime the only known source of actual HDR10+ content will be Amazon, who have added the technology to their streaming service.

On the Samsung web  https ://news.samsung.com/global/how-hdr10-creates-like-real-images

this is Samsung's global news page and if certain countries are to be excluded then they must say so. They have tried to show the 2016 sets are not included by releasing a new statement in August 2017,

but for anyone who saw the global release can show miss selling.

Hi good news, did you use the Which link?

Could you post this result in the

https://www.avforums.com/threads/samsung-ks9000-8000-owners-thread-part-2.2062302/page-260

as there is a lot of discussion about this issue.
