So, of the nigh on 400 TVs supported in BBC iplayer for the Blue Planet II  HLG episodes none are from Samsung. Oh joy.

...

Moderator edit: Original thread title was "Blue Planet 2 HLG - No Samsung". With the OP's permission, the title was changed on 12/03/2018 to accurately reflect the dominant theme of the thread as it has progressed. If the reader would like to know more about the HLG format, please check out the BBC's page and FAQ's on it here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/rd/projects/high-dynamic-range Thank you, AntS.

#samstung ?

Sorry was my attempt to create a unique hashtag with a touch of humour (ie stung by samsung play on words) that we would all use.   I am pumped full of painkillers so forgive me :-).. its rubbish. Don't ever get a herniated disc...

I have submitted the following complaint to Watchdog

Samsung are refusing to update 14/15 and 15/16  and some 2017 televisions that would allow their customers receive Blue planet 2 and subsequent broadcasts in 4K. Most of their competitors have released the necessary firmware. They  appear to have a policy of making their televisions obsolete over night.

Can you please help   thousands of owners update their televisions by putting pressure on Samsung .

Information about this issue can be found on the official Samsung website :-

https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/TV-Audio-Video/Blue-Planet-2-HLG-No-Samsung/td-p/339023

Thanks

I  purchased my set a UE48JU6400 in 2016 thus the chances of Samsung updating it are probably slim.

I am hoping that if the BBC receive enough complaints they may put pressure on Samsung to update the Iplayer and firmware.

I've liked all the tweets so far and have also seen a few retweet. Search for #samstung under latest tweets and everyone with a twitter account do the same
