Unable to persuade my TV to see my Western Digital Elements 2TB USB HDD, which until recently was hooked up to a Technisat HD VA TNT SAT (French Freesat) receiver with DVR function (and the HDD worked perfectly).

The TV can, however, see a Trekstor USB HDD and USB sticks.

Grateful for advice.

I've succeeded in erasing the HDD using WD's diagnostic tool, but not sure what do next.  In Disk Management, asked to initialize drive, but don't know which option (MBR or GPT) to choose!

GPT is the new standard but may have compatibility issues. You are safe using MBR.

Went for GPT and it worked.  HDD now visible on laptop and TV.  Thanks once again.

No probs. I would be interested in knowing how scheduled recording goes.  I had a ks9500 and Q9F and both stopped scheduled recording within 2 weeks. Funny thing is I have an older 32 Samsung TV that schedule records with no probs. One would have thought the latest models would be able to record from the epg without problems. Seems to be a problem with Samsung newer models.

@littoral Glad that it was sorted out, even if took a bit of time.

I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

Scheduled a recording today with TV on standby.  All OK - and long may it last!
