UE22H5600 Smart TV - does it need a freeview signal for catchup TV?

I'm looking at the UE22H5600 as a possible solution for picking up iplayer, ITVhub, ALL4 etc, but I can't get a freeview signal where I live. I can get all the channels through a Freesat box and satellite aerial and I have an available internet connection. I ask because I've just bought a Toshiba smart TV and it won't let me use any of the catchup channels unless I've got the TV tuned in to freeview, something I'm unable to do. I'm hoping to exchange it for a Samsung, but I'd like to know if it has the same flaw.

I've just phoned Samsung and the answer is yes - an aerial and the ability to pickup freeview is required to get the catchup channels. Disappointing, so I'll have to get a chromecast or similar to use All4.  Smart TVs are not so smart after all.
