Hello,
I am trying to fix my parents Samsung TV F6500 which has stopped connecting to Internet since a few weeks. Here is my diagnosis: The TV won't connect to Internet using wifi or Ethernet throught their usual provider. When I use my 4G phone as an access point, the TV connects normally.
These are the solutions I have already tried and that didn't work:
- Reseting the ISP's router + changing it's IP adress
- Factory reset of the Samsung TV (using the Auto-diag menu and the secret menu that you access pressing different buttons on the remote)
- Changing DNS to 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4.
- Updating the firmware
- Calling the ISP's hotline
'
My questions are :
- Is it possible to do a factory reset that includes the Network connections?
- Has anybody had the exact same issue as my parents?
- Even after the factory reset, the TV continues to say that the firmware is up to date, is it possible to remove the updated firmware?
I am out of options and the Smart Hub is now useless. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't encountered that before but I'm sure if someone else has a solution they'd end up here!

You can by-pass the TV's WiFi by using a fire stick or Roku or other streaming device plugged into an hdmi port. Our streaming devices stay on and function well even when the TV can not "see" the internet. After fighting with the TV's settings for an hour I clicked over to the Roku and it was connected even though the TV was not. Hurray, no more wasted time trying to reset the wireless settings!

after turning off IPv6 for a month TV worked perfectly on Wifi. Unfortunately the problem has returned. I connected the TV with a LAN cable. It's been fine for 2 weeks. I wonder if the problems will come back?

You know I haven't delt with that tv since I added the firestick to it in August. Actually my first try was last weekend and strangely it connected. I'm over it and trying. I get all the tv I won't from the firestick now

Hi
I appreciate your post and for potentially identifying a solution to the problem.
To help everyone is possible to post the full set of settings so I can ensure all the settings are the same. I spent some considerable time yesterday trying many different numbers and configurations, still to no avail. Excuse my ignorance if some of these would be different (due to my connection details, etc), not that techy, but hoepfully know enough to get round this issue.
For ease can you complete the following fields:
MAC Address (Is this my own number or are they generic? - mine starts off f8:77:b8:......):
IP Address (Shoud this be the 208.67.222.222?):
Subnet Mask (Currently set to 255.255.0.0):
Gateway (Currently 0000) :
DNS Server (Currently 8888):
Really would appreciate this info and would surely help loads of others who are experiencing the same issue.
I will then try this and you may be an absolute HERO!!!
Many thanks

Hi Mzztlee
Like you, i was going mad with my TV and like you, the only solution I found was to hold the power button for 3 seconds and do a hard reset every 20 mins or so to get the TV connecting to the internet.
But I "think" i have found a more sustainable solution to put the WIFI bug to bed...
My Wifi (like many) has 2 bands, a 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz. Both bands share the same WIFI/network name which is what you select when joining a network. What i did was to segregate the bands out by aligning a unique network name to each band e.g. TalkTalkxxxxxx-5g and TalkTalkxxxxxx-2g which can be altered by going into the WIFI settings on your computer. then I made sure that the Tv connects to the 5g network and hey presto, no more internet dropping out.
every so often the tv does a roaming scan and i believe it gets confused wheather it should be 2.4ghz or the 5ghz band as the network names are identical, hence by changing the network name to a dedicated band, it has no option to "get confused" and drop out.
See if that works
