Hi,

I hope someone can assist.

I very recently purchased a Samsung Q70R and straight away noticed an issue. There are thick vertical stripes in the centre of the screen that run the full height of the TV, one that is slightly brighter than the rest of the display surrounded on each side by a darker stripe. Each of these three stripes are around 3 inches wide.

It appears in all picture modes and is particularly noticeable and distracting when the image is panning.

I would really appreciate some assistance with this, as i feel i have spent a lot of money on a TV that does not perform as advertised.

Many thanks in advanc

Hey @JamieG80! Let's run a Picture Test now to better understand the reason behind this issue: Press the Menu button > Support > Self Diagnosis > Picture test > Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the Picture Test. The image should be clear and free from any distortion. Is the image clear or still distorted?

Hi CarloL,

Thanks for the response.

I ran the picture test, and the issue i am having does not show in the three static images that it provides. The issue remains though.

I can provide images to try to better describe it if you wish?

Regards

Jamie

I am having the same exact issue vertical lines in the center of the screen and to the left and right of the screen. Only visible in panning shots with mostly solid colors. Especially visible while gaming. Samsung Q70r 65"

Hi @JamieG80 and @MannyA

We've just heard back from our TV/AV specialists on this who have stated that this is a normal characteristic of LCD panels and not a fault.

Hope this helps.

Vertical banding is a manufacturing defect. It can arise due to multiple reasons. The biggest cause in LED TVs is the backlight.

Same here..

It's disappointing. I think it's because of the dimming zones. I'm about to sell it. No more Samsung.

It's funny because everything was fine untill firmware updates. Currently on firmware 1356. Previous firmware updates added different settings on local dimming. So what's going on ?
