Hello,

I have a Samsung Q60R 2019 tv in combination with a HW-Q70R soundbar.

These devices are almost brandnew. Using a new hdmi 2.0 cable (also tried another cable), i connected everything, set all the right settings on my soundbar and my tv. ( TV's hdmi arc port to soundbars tv-out)  But i can't get any sound. I've tried with Wifi and Bluetooth. It seems good. I can get sound.  I tried the same setup with my Sony HT-XF9000. I have the same problem. The sound output is set to HDMI, Anynet+ is also turned on.

When i use the volume button on my remote, my sound system acknowledges the volume change, so the connection seems fine.

I've tried both soundbars with my old tv via hdmi arc, the soundbars are working properly. It's definitely because of TV. I have no idea what should I do?

UPDATE: After  lots of different trials, conversations and tecnical service visits, I found the solution of my problem. Unfortunately by myself. During this period, the reaction of Samsung was terrible. Probably this is my last Samsung device. I've never had such a terrible service experience before.

I would like to tell how I solved my issue. I unplugged all devices which connected to TV. I connected onyl soundbar to TV first. It was working fine over HDMI Arc. I was able to use properly with built in youtube and netflix app. Afterwords, I plugged PS4 Pro and Apple TV 4K. It continued to working properly. When I plugged sattelite TV box receiver which brand is Sagem and provided by paid TV service provider. The same problem occured again. I don't have any idea why it is happing but problem is competibility between tv box and Samsung TV. I suppose, tv consider the tv box as a sound system and mute itself.  I asked from my paid tv service provider for another tv box and problem solved.
I strongly advice to try your system only with TV and soundbar. If everything seems fine, you should have some competibility issue with other devies you have.

Good luck !

I had the same problem and found out that my TV box was the problem. I have replaced my TV box and works perfectly.

I suggest to try each accessory individually to find out the culprit that is stopping the ARC to work.

I thought that chromecast does not work with Samsung units cause they have there own casting!?

Thank you.

All peripherals work when plugged in TV.

And terminal gives sound when connected to soundbar, but sound and picture does not go thru to TV. That's why I want to get a proper HDMI cable. Only 1.4 and above are compatible with ARC. We'll see...

PS my Samsung TV is of 2018, and both ways of casting work fine, I use them indifferently.

Cheers !

I've got exactly the same problem with my Q85r TV and Q60 Soundbar! I disconneted all HDMI cables (I left only Soundbar connected) as you did and start working again.

Having the same issue. No sound via the HDMI arc when connecting q70 to q70r sound bar. Really annoying. I have no cable box or anything else connected. Use the apps from the tv. Only Disney TV app works and gets good sound through HDMI. All other apps no sound

I am having the same issue with my qe82q70r

I have a new JBL soundbar and I get no sound from the TV or apps, however the soundbar does work fine with my older Samsung smart tv.

I have tried different HDMI cables and different sound settings but nothing works.  And yes, I am using HDMI 4 ARC on the tv and HDMI OUT ARC on the soundbar.

Something is up with the TV for sure.  I have no other devices connected to the TV apart from a Nintendo switch, so I will try removing it to see if that helps.  It really shouldnt matter however.

Guys,

I have a Q70 TV and Q70 soundbar and everything was working fine and I was getting Dolby Atmos sound via Sky Sports then about an hour ago my HDMI ARC connection stopped working. I started Googling, as we do, and I seen this thread but the solution didn't work for me, however I seen this wee video on YouTube and it worked for me.

Thanks for posting this, after moving house I was having same issue with no sound via HDMI and didn't realise there is only one of the ports that accepts the feed from the soundbar (I must have been lucky when I plugged everything in last time!)
