KS Owners refund

First Poster

I'm a bit out the loop, but I just found out my UE50KU6000 is not compatible with the iPlayer 4K  world cup trial.

Does anyone know if have any chance of getting a refund from Argos, or is this only applicable to KS models and the way they were advertised?

Cheers

Thanks Paul for your advice.

Samsung offered the UE65NU8500TXXU, as a replacement for my KS7500.

I am out atm so not had chance to look into the details, but I am assuming it is not a Quantum dot TV, and therefore I should refuse.

Will await some feedback from you guys.

I am thinking of seeing if I can switch to a flat model too, as perhaps the curved panels are more prone to issues.

Correct, you should refuse. It only has cheapo "crystal colour", no Quantum dots, and a completely different technology.

The lower range went like this: 2016 "KU" -> 2017 "MU" -> 2018 "NU": all lacking quantum dots. They are trying to palm you off with a model from the range DOWN from the KS with inferior panel physics and capabilities.

It should be: 2016 "KS" -> 2017 "QLED" -> 2018 "QLED".

You had a KS7500 which was the bendy bottom of the range KS model, equivalent to the flat KS7000.

The 2018 equivalent model, IF you wanted a Samsung instead of a refund (think about that carefully), would be the QExxQ7FN (Flat) or QExxQ7CN (Bendy). These are the cheapest in the QLED range which meet the Ultra HD Premium spec, which the TV you are replacing did.

There is also a QExxQ6FN (Flat) which is only available in flat. It's lower down the range than the Q7 (only does 1000 nits instead of 1500). If you accept a flat model you might get that.

I've found a web archive capture from the store I bought my ks8000. Not seeing anything about smart things dongle.

I don't think the ku was promised the smart things dongle.

 I would say at least the 2018 q7f. Don't be fobbed off with anything less. Not 2017, but 2018.

Yes and in particular, be extremely careful with model numbers of the QLEDs.

They are almost identical between 2017 and 2018 - so state "2018" in writing, or get confirmation of the whole thing, to be sure.

QxF = 2017

QxFN = 2018

I know I’ve posted this earlier but I do need some help with my next response:

Hi James,

Thank you for sending through the images. As advised on the call, we are unable to exchange or offer a refund for the item as we can’t be held accountable for external advertising by the manufacturer.

I have looked through the images you have sent however these do not specify the Amazon link of when you purchased this item in particular from TVs and More (i.e. link to the item you have purchased specifying these features with date of purchase).

Unfortunately for these reasons we are unable to offer a replacement or refund, as we discussed over the phone I would advise contacting the manufacturer directly to explain the issue and they should be able to assist.

Many thanks

@paul1111 @mrtickle Thanks both for your suggestion of the 2018 QLEDs as a replacement for the KS7500.

Assuming any QLEDs are offered, and tbh given the KS range are basically 2016 QLED models (with quantum dot display), I feel that is a reasonable expectation. I am curious though, just incase they do offer a 2017 QLED. What is the reason to push for a 2018 QLED over the 2017? Is the KS range in some way better than a 2017 QLED?

I have KS7000. Would someone who has successfully received a replacement or refund from Currys website be kind enough to PM a copy of their email or letter they sent to get it sorted? I bought on September 2016

i have autism and dyslexia so I not very good at getting my point across with what I mean and help would be very appreciated. I will change any specific details into my own.

Thank you very much
