So, my case against John Lewis has now been served on them by the Sheriff's Court, and they have until 29th August to provide a response to the sheriff. It will be interesting to see what defence they put up.  For now I'll keep quiet about any progress until the case is settled.

29th August?  Really, they have 7 weeks to file a defence?

Yep.  Last date for service is 8th August, which I understand is to allow for the possibility of non-delivery of the claim, in which case I then have to pay the sheriff's court £13 + fees to personally serve the claim form. I can't see that happening, as the sheriff's clerk has sent it recorded delivery to JL's registered address the day after I submitted it to the court.  Then John Lewis have 3 weeks to respond.

Just filled in and sent my  Section 75 claim against Currys back to my credit card provider. Hopefully they will get back to me ASAP. Heres fingers crossed.

I’m being offered a 2017 q7 for replacement of the ks7 from Samsung, they said they are still manufacturing the 2107 version, and wouldn’t offer the 2108. Anyone have any experience of a valid argument that they should supply the 2108 version?

If your complaint was about the lack of the SmartThings Extend USB adapter, then AFAIK only the 2018 models have built-in SmartThings functionality.

They are telling porkies! They are only making 2018 models,  as they are having probs with the 2017 sets. That is why they are offering you one! I would insist on a 2018 due to it having the smart things built in.

Right. In that case you can't really insist on a 2018 model. A 2017 QLED would be an ok replacement for a 2016 KS which had a faulty screen.

If it had been a SmartThings dispute, and for some reason you were willing to accept another Samsung, then yes they are lying, they are not still making the 2017 models (factory production lines and tooling setups don't work like that for a start).

Have I praised Richer Sounds enough in this thread? I don't think I have!

I am absolutely blown away by my LG C8. It was kindly delivered to my house by one of the guys from Richer Sounds Birmingham in his own car, and he took my Samsung KS7000 away. This was on a busy Saturday. I can't thank them enough for doing the right thing, and doing it with grace and dignity. What an amazing company.

I know it's a lot more expensive, but I think it is worth every penny. The difference in HDR quality on a OLED is palpable and striking.

If anyone has any doubts that OLED might not be bright enough, do not worry especially if you can get a 2018 one with the Dynamic Tone Mapping. I've watched all the HDR demos that I'm familiar with (having shown them off many times!) and they all look brighter, if anything. The lighthouse at the end of "Chasing the light" is just as blinding, as is the Sun at 28 seconds in (here is an SDR version of the demo so you know which one I'm talking about - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ocAr4EpCf5U).

If anyone gets a refund and has the option of adding to it with extra money to upgrade, then if you can I urge you to do so!

And praise again to Richer Sounds. I'll hang around for this discussion and I wish everyone the very best with their refunds and replacements.
