Do all you good people who bought a 2016 Samsung TV know Samsung have stopped supporting it. The promised they would support HLG (BBC Iplayer HDR). This was in the Dec 2016 Trusted Reviews and What Hi Fi. They have not and if you had bought a Panasonic or LG 2016 set you would be able to watch Iplayer Blue Planet 2 in glorious HLG. This is a big issue because HLG looks like the standard for all over the air broadcasting. Samsung are not even supporting a 4K update to Iplayer. The reason looks like it will cost just 5 cents or pence per unit. So my telly I bought in Jan 2017 is deemed as out of date by Samsung!!!!!!

You wrote in your Dec 2016 issue that Samsung were supporting HLG in their 2016 models. Do you know that Samsung have supported their 2017 models but not the 2016 models. I know because the BBC IPlayer Blue Planet 2 will not play in 4K or HLG. It's not good considering Panasonic and LG both do support their 2016 models. It means my KS model I bought in Jan is now deemed out of date by Samsung. It looks like their are royalty fees which Samsung will not pay! Not good.

All you people in the UK can return your KS TVs IF you bought it for the use of the smartthings Extend that will never be coming out for our TVs. ***** is how.

Tell them you want a full refund because they promised that if you bought a KS TV you would get a FREE Smartthings Extend. They proof you will need is easy to find and is the reason you bought this TV.

I bought mine from J Lewis and the Samsung Extend addvert is still there https://www.johnlewis.com/electricals/samsung/smart-tv/c9601000048?rdr=1

If you bought your KS TV from currys http://techtalk.currys.co.uk/tv-gaming/tv/how-to-control-your-home-from-your-smart-tv/

They both say that you will get a free smartthings extend USB dongle.

Now send you TVs back for a full refund Smiley Happy

All those who bought a Samsung TV in 2016 may have claim for miss selling. It basically means that all you folks who bought the 2016 Samsung units have 2 choices. After Dec 2016 and if you had seen any articles that are press release's about HLG support and that influenced you decision to buy may have a case. For all those owners who read the info from the retailers on their web pages and saw and was influenced by the promise of the smart connect which has not been honoured, then you also have a case for miss selling. If you all spread this in all available media then I am sure the retailers would put pressure on to Samsung to correct this. If nothing else you could end up with nice shiny LG or Panasonic, or the new Philips that all are HLG BBC iplayer compatible, and with the HDR10 plus that again Samsung have still not implemented, you may be best with LG and Dolby Vision.

Also take a copy of the retailers web page before they change the description.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRSWoUmU5YQ

I will try to explain how to get a refund for miss selling (seen how much the LG's have come down). I followed this way and got a full refund or a JS8000.

You need to show that you asked or believed that or influenced by claims made about the capabilities of the TV. With BBC Iplayer HLG it's from the Trusted reviews and What Hi Fi, and any other publications and if you asked the retailer.

https://www.whathifi.com/advice/hdr-tv-what-it-how-can-you-get-it#6locceZo3Zf8yi5T.99

you can show you had been informed.

It's different with the smart connect as that is advertised on the main retailers web sites,

https://www.johnlewis.com/electricals/samsung/smart-tv/c9601000048?rdr=1
http://techtalk.currys.co.uk/tv-gaming/tv/how-to-control-your-home-from-your-smart-tv/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRSWoUmU5YQ

As the donngle's have not turned up you now claim miss selling, so either go to your retailer or email them with the web page, and explain why you think you were miss sold. Also phone Citizens Advice 03444 111 444 and raise a case (this also gets past on to Trading Standards). Explain that the retailer informed you off the capabilities via their web page information, and either show the page printer or the link, as above.

They will advise and link you to some template letters to send to your retailer.

I had to send a letter of intent to take legal action (template from Citizens Advice) against Curry's but then they gave me a refund.

So mention all the promises from Samsung full support for HLG, Smart Connect, and HDR10+

It will cost nothing to ask and again may bring some pressure on to Samsung.

Hello guys

Just update on my RS claim.

Got a email they agreed it's fine to come to a compromise of full refund or exchange.  They asked me Do you know which TV you would be interested in instead.

I am completely stuck what model be reasonable to ask for I have the KS7000 55".  wife said she wouldn't say no to bigger but anyone with any ideas on alternatives from RS?

ONCE again RS within 1 day replied to my email and look to resolve quickly.  I can't praise enough how good they been.

Great stuff and another big plus for Richer Sounds. Thanks for also posting on the results page, and spread the word.

You will find it difficult to get a TV as good for picture as the KS range, Personally I went for the LG B8.. Depends how much your willing to put too, because if you want something the quality of the KS7000 from Samsung you are looking at the QLED range.

Let's see how they like them apples!

Sorry not got back sooner but that seems great. The only point I can see is on para 23 where they say it was a free item and you did not pay for it. In actual fact the ability was already built into the structure of the TV, you just needed the dongle to be able to connect it to your wifi, which it was the dongle is for.

They also did still advertised the dongle as a free item to be given to all owners when it became available, which is still misrepresentation.  It may be also useful shgowing links to the you tube links from Samsung advertising this feature which shows how proud Samsung were of it and were treating it as the new tech in their TV's. The links are on here,

This is what i am worried about. I really cannot fault the picture quality of the KS7000 i had.
All i have been told is "do i have any models in mind" I purchased my 55" for £900, i cannot see for that price point a TV as good, unless i put in x money on top.

Anybody think of any models i can throw at RS and see what they think (i hope they swap for a more expensive model than i paid i can ask i suppose -nothing to lose)

I got JL to exchange my KS8000 for an LG B7.  in my humble opinion the B7 knock the sock off the KS8000, no light bleed, no patches on the screen plus it handles all of the different protocols.   A liitle muore expensive than your KS7000 but well worth it in my opinion as the B7 price keeps comming down.

The LGB7 is superior to the KS range, though you’d have to stump up the shortfall, no way will any retailer swap a KS for a more expensive TV. There’s also the issue of finding stock as they’re not making them anymore.

they really are worth the extra cash mind.

I swapped out my KS8000 for an LG C8.  There's a price gap for sure, but I think justified.

It is overwhelmingly good in every respect, I cannot fault it.

Yes i am a little pissed off that i have to pay for a replacement to get smartthings TBH, seems unfair if they could replace it for like-for-like as possible i be happy (preferably not the M and N series).  It seems only the 2017/2018 Q series TVs have this feature and picture quality which can be something i be happy with.

I tried looking on here but have RS always given money back credit (full refund) or replacements without paying extra i.e they swallow the hit and should then ring samsungs neck for the shortfall?

I guess i didnt investigate replacement, i thought they just give me a Q6/7 model, with no additional money on top.  There was a post on here around page 120, where someone mentioned RS swapped their tv but they didn't mention if they paid extra.  I am gutted as i got my TV on a sale promotion and paid £900 from its orginal price of £1299.

Talk about entitlement!

RS are acting totally reasonably and fair. They are offering a total refund on a TV that by your own account looks great and was bought at a huge discount. It's not RS's fault that a compatible TV (picture wise) is not for sale at the same discount right now. Unless you're willing to add several hundred pounds to upgrade to an OLED, I'd suggest keeping the KS as it is.

It's enough that RS are offering you such a quick and pain free solution, I think it's a little disingenuous to expect them to take any further hit on swapping over your TV for an even better and newer one. Think of what they'll also be covering for you in terms of collection and delivery alone (them lorries don't get driven for free).  Had you paid the full list price for your KS then you'd have a much better choice to choose from, but you didn't. You benefited from a really good TV for 2 years bought at a really good price. Sorry but you can't expect to have your cake and eat it on this one.
