Cannot get Amazon Firestick to work properly on my new 49inch Samsung model Ue49k5500. Are there issues with this equipment?

What initially worked for me on our 2013 55" Sammy, was to have the TV on and on that input, pull the power on the Fire Stick, count to 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and plug it back in. The only other thing was when I installed a splitter, should be linked above, that made it possible for the two to play nice.
Not sure what the splitter does to the signal that makes it work that Samsung can't do to the TVs?!

Reading the issues of all I do not see what I am dealing with.
New Fire TV 4K stick plugged into HDMI Port 1 of my Samsung UN65MU8000F UHD will only give me a constant non-flickering picture (picture goes black and no sound for a second or two and then comes back and goes again, also flicker in picture) when setting at 720P 60HZ in settings!
I have tried changing every DISPLAY setting to improve but no go!
I also tried other HDMI ports on HUB with no improvement.
Tried pulling TV power for a couple of minutes. No improvement.
Recently had an NVIDIA Shield Tube and it also did not give me a consistent non-flickering picture so I believe the issue is originating in the SAMSUNG unit.
720P is livable but not what I prefer.

Apologies, correction in the write up.
When in 4K it blacks out and loses sound sporadically with the odd flickering.
When I set to 720P 60HZ all picture irregularities go away.

Samsung has provided nothing as far as an answer or even suggestions other then I need to take it in to a shop.
The service facility I called will do diagnostics on it for $20, which is reasonable enough. Then, depending on what they find, it will cost what ever it takes to fix it.
Since it is a three year olds TV there is no warranty!
Also, a 65" flat screen will require I rent a large vehicle to transport it.
I have decided to live with no 4K.
