Freeview uk on smart tv question...

Hello.

I have a newish ks9000 smart tv.

I'm told it had two freeview tuners.

When I go to auto tune and scan terrestrial / digital it only finds 4 garbage paytoview trailer channels.

I have messed around with various scans with always the same results.

I cannot find and channels at all.

My ks9000 is wired and wireless connected to my virgin hub and clearly receives digital and has the internet.

I do have an aerial and a cable connection elsewhere in the house but neither are wired to this primary tv.  I'm told for freeview I only needed Wi-Fi which it has.

I'd manually tune it if I knew the frequencies....

I've googled everything and it's all confusing double talk.

Please help.  What am I doing wrong?

@Anonymous User  Further to @AndrewL's  post indeed  unfortunately you do need a connected aerial for Freeview- wifi works with Catch up and On Demand Services.   A brief guide here  httpshttps://www.freeview.co.uk/app/uploads/2013/03/FREEVIEW_Value_Aerials.pdf://www.freeview.co.uk/app/uploads/2013/03/FREEVIEW_Value_Aerials.pdf

Hi @Anonymous User

Are you searching for the available channels using Home > Settings > Broadcasting > Auto Tuning? Can you confirm whether you have other devices in the house that are tuned in to Freeview channels?

Hi thanks for help. Broadcast auto tune scan terrestrial digital..nothing.

So as stated we have an aerial and a cable using freeview. My question was does a samsung smart tv need an additional input or is Wi-Fi enough ?

If I need a physical aerial or cable that's lame but I can sort. Was hoping Wi-Fi was enough ?

@Anonymous User. I've looked into this for you and can confirm that you will need an aerial connected to your TV in order to tune the Freeview channels. Apologies for the confusion.

It's as I feared. Ok so I guess I'll buy a splitter and some cable and try to steel the signal off the main box. Virgin try to make you buy multiple boxes but I just want freeview...free...view...lol

Thanks for help.

Ps any idea how to perm remove these awful trailer channels like tv plus etc . I did delete them but they still play on look as default ...

Hi again...So I bought a splitter and a satellite cable for t.v. and I've done every scan I could think of and nothing. This is when connected to the virgin cable which our other tv runs off.

Do I need to actually purchase a physical aerial for the house just to get free view!?

Or can I use virgin cable or something else...just to watch tv on my tv lol

Is the aerial going straight into your TV or is it going into your Virgin Mediabox and then, is another cable from there connected to your TV. @Anonymous User?

I tried it from the outside straight into my tv with no luck.

I've done some research and apparently virgin cables will not work as an aerial without a virgin box.

So I've ordered this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B01M658GTW

I'm told I need a dedicated separate aerial for freeview. This aerial is hd apparently and 50 miles search.

Crazy how complicated it was to find this out. Nothing in the instructions or on samsung site or local shops had a clue. They all just presume you'll buy a package or use the endless film apps which bloat out the tv.

Thanks to all for help.
