I have a Galaxy A3 2017 SM-A320FL

I would like to set up Samsung Pay on it, but there is no app for it loaded. I thought it was supposed to be preloaded?

Whats worrying is if I go to Play Store and try to install it, I get the message "Your device isn't compatible with this version" I am on Android 8.0.0

Which country are you in @KeithR  ?

I assume the phone isn't rooted ?

You can see if Knox has been tripped by downloading the phoneinfo app from Playstore and check that Knox shows as 0x0

Who supplied the phone to you ?

Thanks for your speedy reply BandOfBrothers.

I am in UK, not rooted. Never heard of Knox, but will give it a go.

I bought the phone off eBay. Brand new unopened in a sealed box which I still have.

Hi @KeithR

You're very welcome.

It could be that the phone you have then if off Ebay is a grey import not intended for the UK market hence the issues with Samsung Pay.

For example a while ago I wanted the Samsung Note Fe and would have needed to import it and thus Samsung Pay could have been an issue.

So, if it is a grey import, does that mean there is a hardware (unfixable) or software (fixable?) deficiency?

Hey @KeithR

The hardware and software differs on phones purchased in the UK/EU and outside in other regions.

The incompatibility with your phone and Samsung Pay isn't something that would be fixable.

ok thanks TracyR

Lesson learned - eBay perhaps not best place for the unwary to buy a phone!

I naively thought the model number defined its features.

Just checked in settings, and the model number shown is SM-A320FL which according to Wikipedia is for Europe. Am I missing something here?

Drop me a private message with your Serial Number and IMEI and I'll check on my system.

I won't be able to see the exact country, but I'll be able to see if it's EU or Non EU
