I understand phone carriers have their own customized firmware versions for the samsung devices they sell.

But Samsung does not relinquish the firmware modification and distribution process.   Correct?

are firmware updates pushed from samsung servers to smartphones/tablets, including carrier/isp specific versions?

They are indeed, @mitopa. Once the Network Providers hace added their 'bits and pieces', the updates are then returned to Samsung for distribution to the relevant mobiles and tablets.

Hope this helps!

that's what I thought too, except that network providers don't modify firmware directly.   This is also under samsung's control (code compilation and testing) even though the customization directives come from the providers.

Right?
