I have a A5 (2017) and can recieve and send texts accept when texting my wife, although I can recieve texts from her phone a DORO mini820. Is there a setting in my phone that is stopping me sending texts eventhough the phone indicates it has done so!

Hi Band of Brothers Voyager,

       Thanks for your advice, unfortunatley none of it worked.

However tried a different SIM and guess what it worked perfectly

so contacted my supplier who are now sending a new replacement.

Hi @Guffers

 

I believe your phone has a Call and Text Blocking facility. 

 

Block / Unblock Messages:

 

"Open “Messages”
Tap and hold the conversation thread exchanged with the phone number / contact you want to block
Tap “Add to spam numbers”
To unblock messages, follow the same steps above and tap “Remove from spam”

Block Messages via Settings:

Launch “Messages”
Tap “More”
Go to “Settings"
Access “Spam filter” > “Manage spam numbers”
Enter the phone number you want to block, or alternatively, tap “Inbox” / “Contacts” and select the phone number / contact you want to block
Tap “Back” to confirm.

 

Unblock Messages via Settings:

 

Launch “Messages”
Tap “More”
Go to “Settings” > “Spam filter”
Tap “Manage spam numbers”
Tap the “-“ symbol associated with the contact / phone number you want to unblock
Tap “Back”

Turn Call Forwarding ON: "

 

 

Please ask your Wife to check here phones settings for any similar blocking feature. 

 

Other aspects to look at is if your sending a long text or one with emoji in that could be converting the text into a MMS Text which are not typically part of a text allowance and are charged for.

 

Some mobile phone contracts may need Provisioning for MMS which your network customer services can action. 

 

If not relevant or the case then as a process of elimination to rule out the phone or sim card that may be at issue can you please try your Sim Card in another phone and another sim card in your phone.
