Software update killed my s8 battery

Well i did the software update today and my phone was rather hot for the rest of the day, so I put it on charge. I went out with 100% battery and within 2 hours, unknown to me the battery was dead. Top and rail of the story was, I was left at a Christmas night out, with no means of communication and 7 miles from home. I did end up borrowing a mobile to call for a lift home, but this should never have happened. Samsung, sort your sizz out! I walked away from other manufacturers for less! Annoyed? Yes. Exceptionally!

Sometimes after android updates you'll have to wipe the cache partition : https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-34311

If clearing the phones system file cache then consider backing up and perform a factory reset.

Beforehand do please check your battery stats settings as one or more of your apps may not be fully optimised yet. Check for updates too please @DaveC1968

Hi BandOfBrothers. I've cleared the system file cache as you suggested. I've also completed a health check on the phone and it all appears to be in order. Hopefully your suggestion solves the problem. Most of my Apps updated yesterday morning. It was noticable, as I've never seen such a  long list of apps updated all at once! Many thanks for all your help.
