If you don't want to put your j3 2016 phone in the bin Don't install the latest update on your phone because it will make it useless then you take it to a Samsung store for them to tell you it's got a faulty screen and it will cost you £70 so your best getting a new phone well I did some where else but it's not a Samsung

If it was an update that breaks the screen there would probably be a lot more complaints, regardless - As long the phone is inside the warranty Samsung would cover all repairs. If its outside warranty the repair costs are indeed for yourself. The only thing you can still try is a factory reset with the button combination:

Press and hold the key in the same time: POWER BUTTON, VOLUME UP and HOME BUTTON
When STARTUP ANDROID LOGO appears on the screen released all pressed keys
Wait to installing system update to enter recovery mode
ANDROID RECOVERY MODE MENU WILL DISPLAY,
Select >>> wipe data / factory reset <<< to go to the next step
Select >>> Yes <<< proceed to the next step
Select >>> Reboot system now <<< done! wait until restart.
