Hello one and all,

In a spot of bother here, it is not urgent as my older 32GB model is in perfect working order and i am using that as they are on the same EE network, However, after the battery died in my 128GB (It completely died, expanded and gave out a lot of heat) I replaced said battery with a brand new one and now it will not run on battery power, It will run perfectly fine on mains charger power but not battery, I have left the battery charging as is asked with new batteries though I did notice white residue on the board where the battery connects to the mainboard, could this be the issue?

Thanks in advance

P.S. The phone is now out of warranty so the cheapest methods of fixing or any pointers for good repair services are appreciated

Can you clarify who replaced the battery in your phone @ScottTheGambler ?

Hi buddy if you don't have a Samsung store nearby I would definitely use at least a samsung approved store as they would know and more importantly have the correct equipment to fix it like specialist heater to open it with out cooking the insides and it may also get a repair warranty I'm not so lucky in my town there are plenty that say they can do these repairs but finding one that can do it like a pro is hard

Having had some experience previously and having the tools to do so i replaced the battery myself, all has gone smoothly until attempting to boot the phone using the battery,it will charge and say it is charged too 100% but refuses to boot using the battery power, when the old battery expired could that have caused the white residue on the board i mentioned in my first post?

Admittedly I should have gotten an approved specialist to change the battery however I do not have a store in my city (that i know of) and didnt want to wait and pay £70 for it to be changed with the same issue as im having now.

Hope this helps some, im assuming the battery residue has either shorted a connection or is just blocking the board from accepting the charge?

Cheers!

Thing is a Samsung approved engineer would have tested the phone and most probably troubleshot any current problems.

Now you've undertaken the work yourself then any remaining Manufacturing Warranty is void.

The battery you have purchased could be shot.

The work you carried out may have introduced further issues.

Hi buddy you have bigger plums than me attempting that one but you do say you have experience of smartphones it seems like you have 2 options either try again with another Samsung original battery or go to the service centre like @BandOfBrothers mentioned and let them run there test you may be surprised luck may be on your side and could be possibly be less serious than it seems.

Would be nice to hear how you get on so if you can keep  up updated

Good luck

Unfortunately as @ScottTheGambler has undertaken the work themselves thus breaking the seals on the phone and quite possibly used a non Samsung Original Battery and the work not being logged against the phone then a Samsung Service Location would most certainly probably decline to carry out any further work on the phone due to voided Manufacturing Warranty @DRUIDDOODE
