I received the "improved call stability" update about 3 weeks ago. And today,  I received the above update. Unfortunately, it's just an Android security update from March to April 2018.  Having the same issue as everyone else here. I also experienced the "dropped call before answering" issue just today a well ;(

Please post your country and service provider so I can update the appropriate list if you are (or are not) having the same problem with your new S9.

CONFIRMED WORKAROUND ("FIXED*" for PERTH, AUSTRALIA): No More 4-20 second Silences during calls on my Samsung Galaxy S9 SM-G960F since I transferred my service from Aldimobile to Telstra. Much like the Lawsuit in Israel  implies, it SEEMS that the network that Telstra rent to AldiMobile in Australia  has an incompatibility issue with the Samsung Galaxy S9 firmware or hardware as may other networks reported worldwide:

BELOW IS A SUMMARY OF COUNTRIES AND PROVIDERS REPORTING THIS ISSUE: SAMSUNG GALAXY S9 – INTERMITTENT SILENCE DURING CALLS THEN AUDIO COMES BACK. BASED ON REPORTS THIS AFFECTS MODELS :  SM-G960F & SM-G965F with Chipset Exynos 9810.

4 to 20 second  SILENCES HAVE BEEN REPORTED WHEN USING SIM CARDS FROM THESE PROVIDERS:

- Australia (Woolworths; Aldimobile; Lycamobile with VOLTE off; Telechoice; Vodafone with VOLTE on)

- Belgium (Proximus)

- France (Orange; SFR; Free Mobile)

- Germany (?)

- Hungary (Telekom)

- India (Airtel; Idea; Jio; Vodafone-missing calls)

- Ireland (EE, Vodafone-up to 30 seconds silence)

- Israel (Suing Samsung

- Italy (Windtre; TIM; Vodafone; H3G)

- Jordan (Zain)

- Malaysia (Maxis, Digi)

- NZ (Spark)

- Poland (TMobile; PLAY brand - no VOLTE)

- Russia (Beeline)

- Saudi Arabia (Saudi Telecom Company STC)

- Serbia (MTS, Telenor)

- South Africa (Vodacom)

- Spain (Yoigo; Vodafone; Movistar)

- Sweden (Comviq , Telia - VOLTE off-silences; VOLTE on–drops calls)

- UK (EE; Sky; Vodafone; VM-missed calls; Three; O2 - S9&S9+)

NO SILENCE DURING CALLS SO FAR:

- Australia (Telstra SIM)

- USA (MetroPCS) - different chipset/network protocols?

CALLS DROPPING / MISSED CALLS, MISSED SMSs

- USA (Sprint; T-Mobile) - check phone models - possibly bought in Asia/Europe.

- Montenegro (T-Mobile) S9+ duos, European model not USA model - Missing Calls (not Silences)

*Note: For the past 8 days on LONG Calls I have NO SILENCES at all on exactly the same S9, with exactly the same appscalling from the same locations when I swap from AldiMobile SIM to Telstra SIM (Same Australian Network but Aldimobile is the cheaper Capped and Limited 4G piggyback service rented out by Telstra). If I swap back to the Aldimobile SIM then intermittent but regular ~6 seconds SILENCES reoccur from the first call of over about 4 minutes. The network that works is Telstra's "4GX"  service. The other mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) using  Telstra MVNO network (with deliberate limitations) also have SILENCES during calls (e.g. Woolworths, LycaMobile). It would be interesting to know if only a subset of the EE network users are having problems because they also limit their services to MVNOs. This Implies that the Israeli’s lawsuit is correct – an incompatibility with certain networks maybe even particular network switching software/hardware.

Please post your country and service provider so I can update the appropriate list if you are (or are not) having the same problem with your new S9.

Somany countries and carriers are having the issue....if samsung doesn't come up with a fix soon, then this should call for a recall

Voyager

I'm having the issue with all Italian operators: TIM, Vodafone, Wind 3. So it's not the network the issue, it's the phone. Hardware or software nobody knows it. Sure is that it's not of easy solution otherwise Samsung would have came out with a solution already. The risk of a worldwide recall is likely at this point
