O Lee. I love you.

Follow all the tech teams e.g @BBCtech @Thesuntech @guardiantech most papers and news channels have a tech team. You can search for relevant ones in the Twitter search bar. Then starting with their handle - the @BBCtech is the handle, write them the message. And finish the message with a hashtag or two eg #SamsungS9, remember keep the message short as there's a character limit.

Please post your country and service provider so I can update the appropriate list if you are (or are not) having the same problem with your new S9.

CONFIRMED WORKAROUND ("FIXED*" for PERTH, AUSTRALIA): No More 4-20 second Silences during calls on my Samsung Galaxy S9 SM-G960F since I transferred my service from Aldimobile to Telstra. Much like the Lawsuit in Israel  implies, it SEEMS that the network that Telstra rent to AldiMobile in Australia  has an incompatibility issue with the Samsung Galaxy S9 firmware or hardware as may other networks reported worldwide:

BELOW IS A SUMMARY OF COUNTRIES AND PROVIDERS REPORTING THIS ISSUE: SAMSUNG GALAXY S9 – INTERMITTENT SILENCE DURING CALLS THEN AUDIO COMES BACK. BASED ON REPORTS THIS AFFECTS MODELS :  SM-G960F & SM-G965F with Chipset Exynos 9810.

NO SILENCE DURING CALLS SO FAR:

- Australia (Telstra SIM)

- USA (MetroPCS) - different chipset/network protocols?

CALLS DROPPING / MISSED CALLS, MISSED SMSs

- USA (Sprint; T-Mobile) - check phone models - possibly bought in Asia/Europe.

- Montenegro (T-Mobile) S9+ duos, European model not USA model - Missing Calls (not Silences)

*Note: For the past 8 days on LONG Calls I have NO SILENCES at all on exactly the same S9, with exactly the same appscalling from the same locations when I swap from AldiMobile SIM to Telstra SIM (Same Australian Network but Aldimobile is the cheaper Capped and Limited 4G piggyback service rented out by Telstra). If I swap back to the Aldimobile SIM then intermittent but regular ~6 seconds SILENCES reoccur from the first call of over about 4 minutes. The network that works is Telstra's "4GX"  service. The other mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) using  Telstra MVNO network (with deliberate limitations) also have SILENCES during calls (e.g. Woolworths, LycaMobile). It would be interesting to know if only a subset of the EE network users are having problems because they also limit their services to MVNOs. This Implies that the Israeli’s lawsuit is correct – an incompatibility with certain networks maybe even particular network switching software/hardware.

Hello

I am with Vodacom here in South Africa.

I have started the following thread:

https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/950539-Samsung-Galaxy-s9-Call-Silence-Issue?p=21444663#p...

Let's monitor it and see what happens

Apprentice

Me on : Zain network , and never had issues before the s9+ .

I guess the problem is with the transition between 4g to 3g when u recieve a call , and then another silence when transition from 3g to 2g .

So you get two silence drops each call .

And our 1000 $ dollars phone can not perform a basic transition .

Never again samsung .

Embracing apple .
