SAMSUNG GALAXY S9 – INTERMITTENT SILENCE DURING CALLS THEN AUDIO COMES BACK

BASED ON REPORTS THIS AFFECTS MODELS :  SM-G960F & SM-G965F with Chipset Exynos 9810

4 to 10 second  SILENCES HAVE BEEN REPORTED WHEN USING SIM CARDS FROM THESE PROVIDERS:

- Australia (Woolworths; Aldimobile; Lycamobile with VOLTE off; Telechoice; Vodafone with VOLTE on)

- Belgium (Proximus)

- France (Orange; SFR; Free Mobile)

- Germany (?)

- Hungary (Telekom)

- India (Airtel; Idea; Jio; Vodafone-missing calls)

- Ireland (EE, Vodafone-up to 30 seconds silence)

- Israel (Suing Samsung: http://piunikaweb.com/2018/04/20/breaking-samsung-hit-with-lawsuit-over-galaxy-s9-call-issues/)

- Italy (Windtre; TIM; Vodafone; H3G)

- Jordan (?)

- NZ (Spark)

- Poland (TMobile; PLAY brand - no VOLTE)

- Russia (Beeline)

- Singapore/Malaysia (?)

- Spain (Yoigo; Vodafone; Movistar)

- Sweden (Telia - VOLTE off-silences; VOLTE on–drops calls)

- UK (EE; Sky; Vodafone; VM-missed calls; Three; O2 - S9&S9+)

- USA (Sprint; T-Mobile) - check phone models -possibly bought in Asia.

NO SILENCE DURING CALLS SO FAR:

- Australia (Telstra SIM)

- USA (MetroPCS) - different chipset/network protocols?

Note: No silences using Telstra SIM (Australia) but  ~6 second silences using SIMS from Telstra’s MVNO partners (piggyback service provider e.g. Aldimobile) – capped and limited 4G network: https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2016/04/aldi-mobile-woolworths-get-4g-on-telstras-network-from-today/ which Implies that the Israeli’s lawsuit is correct – an incompatibility with certain networks.

My S9+ (SM-G965F official Samsung firmware) is also affected with the silence problem. Sometimes I cannot hear the other party sometimes vica versa. My carrier is Telekom Hungary.

Many Hungarian fellow users have the same problem, not sure that it's carrier related.

I am in France and I also have an S9 + (SM-G965F) with the latest firmware. My telecom operator (Orange) has updated my SIM card and reset all the network settings on my line. Despite this, the problem of the cuts during the calls is still there.

Several topics exist (in French). Here's the most important: https://eu.community.samsung.com/t5/Smartphones-Tablets/Numerous-coupers-or-in-in-in-spin-apple-with...

Okey I have removed my memory card and moved my sim from sim place 1 to 2. Hope for better calls from now on!

I have been testing this since launch date and the problem is not with the sim, not with the network and not with the covereage, it is with the phone.

I have tested various configurations and networks and today tried a further configuration.

I have the dual sim device;

2 sims and I get the problem on EVERY call at some stage since launch date even with patches.

1 sim in slot 1 I get the problem on EVERY call at some stage since launch date even with patches.

1 sim in slot 2 and nothing in slot 1 and today is the first day since I bought the phone that I have not had a drop out.

Could any others with dual sim do a similar test to ensure that this is just not a fluke.  I have reverted to slot 1 and the problem returned, back to slot 2 and it is OK again.  I need to try for a few days before I am sure this is valuable information and it would be useful to hear from others.

This still means the phone is a problem (especially if you only have a single sim slot) but it allows me to take calls whilst waiting for Samsung to lift a finger).  I bought it for two sims and I need two sims but I have put my priority sijm into 2 and nothing in 1 and have not dropped a call.

Samsung LISTEN to these observations and DO something, the billions you lost on the last QA farce with the hot batteries will be nothing compared to what you will find second time around when your new quality promises are demonstrated as being hot air to try and get the customers to forgive you.
