I was answered in Facebook by an official representative in Russia samsung that the output of the exposure is expected in May

so timeline for a resolution is a generic "May", which means another month and half maximum...huge time to solve, what a shame!

UPDATED AS AT 29th APRIL 2018

Please post your country and service provider so I can update the appropriate list if you are (or are not) having the same problem with your new S9 or S9+.

CONFIRMED WORKAROUND ("FIXED*" for PERTH, AUSTRALIA): No More 4-20 second Silences during calls on my Samsung Galaxy S9 SM-G960F since I transferred my service from Aldimobile to Telstra. Much like the Lawsuit in Israel  implies, it SEEMS that the network that Telstra rent to AldiMobile in Australia  has an incompatibility issue with the Samsung Galaxy S9 firmware or hardware as may other networks reported worldwide:

BELOW IS A SUMMARY OF COUNTRIES AND PROVIDERS REPORTING THIS ISSUE: SAMSUNG GALAXY S9 – INTERMITTENT SILENCE DURING CALLS THEN AUDIO COMES BACK. BASED ON REPORTS THIS AFFECTS MODELS :  SM-G960F & SM-G965F with Chipset Exynos 9810.

4 to 20 second  SILENCES HAVE BEEN REPORTED WHEN USING SIM CARDS FROM THESE PROVIDERS:

- Australia (Woolworths; Aldimobile; Lycamobile with VOLTE off; Telechoice; Vodafone with VOLTE on; Telstra (some areas like Newcastle and Central Coast NSW))

- Belgium (Proximus)

- Bulgaria (Telenor, MTEL A1)

- Croatia (VIP, Tomato, T-Mobile)

- France (Orange; SFR; Free Mobile)

- Germany (?)

- Greece (Vodafone)

- Hungary (Telekom; Vodafone)

- India (Airtel; Idea; Jio)

- Iran (MCI Telecom)

- Ireland (Eir.; EE (UK Visitor?); Vodafone-up to 30 seconds silence)

- Israel (Suing Samsung

- Italy (Windtre; TIM; Vodafone; H3G)

- Jordan (Zain)

- Lithuania (Vodafone)

- Malaysia (Maxis, Digi)

- NZ (Spark)

- Philippines (Global Telecom)

- Poland (TMobile; PLAY brand - no VOLTE)

- Portugal (Vodafone)

- Qatar (Ooredoo)

- Romania (Vodafone; Digi)

- Russia (Beeline)

- Saudi Arabia (Saudi Telecom Company STC, Mobily)

- Serbia (MTS, Telenor)

- Slovakia (Orange)

- South Africa (Vodacom)

- Spain (Yoigo; Vodafone; Movistar)

- Sweden (Comviq; Telia - VOLTE off-silences; VOLTE on–drops calls)

- Tunisia (Tunisie Telecom)

- Turkey (Turkcell)

- UK (EE; H3G; Sky; Vodafone; Three; O2 - S9&S9+)

NO SILENCE DURING CALLS SO FAR:

- Australia (Telstra SIM - most areas; Vodafone - some regions)

- Morocco (Orange)

- USA (MetroPCS) - different chipset/network protocols?

CALLS DROPPING / MISSED CALLS, MISSED SMSs

- India (Vodafone - missing calls)

- Montenegro (T-Mobile) S9+ duos, European model not USA model - Missing Calls (not Silences)

- UK (Virgin Mobile - missed calls)

- USA (Sprint; T-Mobile) - missed calls. Check phone models - possibly bought in Asia/Europe.

*Note: For the past 12 days on LONG Calls I have NO SILENCES at all on exactly the same S9, with exactly the same appscalling from the same locations when I swap from AldiMobile SIM to Telstra SIM (Same Australian Network but Aldimobile is the cheaper Capped and Limited 4G piggyback service rented out by Telstra). If I swap back to the Aldimobile SIM then intermittent but regular ~6 seconds SILENCES reoccur from the first call of over about 4 minutes. The network that works is Telstra's "4GX"  service. The other mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) using  Telstra MVNO network (with deliberate limitations) also have SILENCES during calls (e.g. Woolworths, LycaMobile). It would be interesting to know if only a subset of the EE network users are having problems because they also limit their services to MVNOs. This Implies that the Israeli’s lawsuit is correct – an incompatibility with certain networks maybe even particular network switching software/hardware.

I was just looking at Twitter and reading random tweets when I searched for S9. There are so many tweets remarking on the phone and I noticed a lot of people asking about buying either an S9 or iPhone. How about we absolutely bombard twitter with links to this forum? I mean post it everywhere. Answer random queries and make sure we tweet Samsung directly each time? It shouldn't take long for this forum to travel. Just an idea as right now we all have defective phones and absolutely no guarantee that this issue will be resolved.

Good shout, and I would like to participate. However, being the dinosaur that I am, I don't have Twitter.....I know right, living under a rock

We could inform the BBC via their WhatsApp account?? The number is +447555173285

If they get enough people contacting them about it they might get interested.

I have tried something different today and it may be worthwhile giving it a go. I have the dual sim and put my sim into slot 2 (ok you give up the use of a memory card). Then I used it as normal and no silence or dropouts. I have a hybrid s9+.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I have also tried this few weeks back. The problem is with sim 1 tray only. But i am using dual sim. One is for office use and one is my personal number. So replacing the sim or using only 1 sim in tray 2 is not the solution. Problem is problem. And samsung has to find quick fix to this.

Note: Right now I am using my 7th replacement handset - S9+. And the problem is still there. Today I again went to the service centre for replacement/refund and after long arguments and fights they have given me a grace period of 15 days mentioning that a software update will fix the issue and if it fails they will refund the money/replace the handset once again. Means 8th replacement handset!!!

They asked me to pm theme so instead sent the link to our group :-) Time to get arsey!
