S9 + NOT FAST CHARGING

Hi all any help much appreciated.

 

Noticed when conecting charger phone shows different times 'till fully charged'.

When first conecting charger, could say for instance 50 m till fully charged, after two secounds then reads say 32 m till fully charged.

 

Recently noticed that my phone does not read 'fast charging' even though it is enabled in settings, so screen reads 'cable charging', so taking alot longer to charge.

 

Have been to carphone warehouse repair specialist, he cleaned out charging port.

 

Tried two different usb cords in same adaptor plug, same thing happens.

 

Tried restarting phone, reconecting charger, same thing happens.

 

Tried charging in safe mode, same happens.

 

Have wiped cashe partition by holding down set keys for several secounds.

 

Still not fast charging.

 

(Software and apps all updated).

 

Anyone any ideas?

 

Apart from either a factory reset or trying a new charger plug and usb I can't think of what to do.

I would certainly suggest to try another charging brick and plug.

 

Can you try a fast charging wireless pad / charging stand ?

 

I appreciate you've been to Carphone Warehouse but is there a Samsung Experience Store local you could visit @Jam1e  ?

Yeah could be fault with the charger plug and / or cable, seems most obvious.

 

I haven't got a wireless pad to try.

 

I haven't heard of a samsung experience store actually.

 

What I'l do is nip back to my nearest carphone warehouse store and see the technician again, I said I would come back if the problem persists.

 

Sometimes it comes it comes up with fast charging and sometimes it does'nt.

 

I will probably buy a new charger and cable after seeing what the carphone warehouse has to say.

I am having the same issue with my S9+ recently. It is not my port because it also will not fast charge with my wirless charger. And Fast Charging is Toggled on ans I have wiped my cache and cleared memory etc.

 

Also my battery is draining way faster lately.

 

I have found many people complaining about the fast power draining on S9 devices after the recent Oreo update.

 

That makes me wonder if the update also has corrupted the ability for fast charging.

Personally I tend to do a factory reset after a big update, we've gone from android 8 oreo to android 9 pie and now onto android 10.

 

So whenever it's a new operating system I do a full factory reset and my phone runs sweet, charges fast and I get just as good battery life as ever.

 

I've noticed when the phone is on idle I get a even longer now on android 10. 

 

I think little bits of confused data get left behind after a big update which is why I do the reset. 

But yeh, seems to keep things sweet.

Samsung Experience Stores are not in all UK cities but hopefully they'll branch out in the future.

 

Carphone Warehouse if it has a repair centre shouod have a fast charging pad you can try your phone on. The engineers probably use them to test phones on themself.

 

That along with charging cables and bricks.

Exact same issue here. Very frustrating - I have now bought 2 different replacement chargers and it is NOT THE CHARGER. Wasted $. It didn't hit me until last night that this started after I did the last update. What's the fix, Samsung?

To all people having issues with Fast Charging (S9+)

After many months of search and cleaning USB port and reading almost all forums, I fixed the issue now :

1-Go to settings

2-Open Apps

3-Tap the 3 dots at the upper right corner, then select show system apps

4-Tap the search area, then type "USB"

5-Click on USB settings

6-Go to storage properties

7-Clean Cache and Data

 

Please do not connect USB charger BEFORE doing those steps, connect it AFTER, then plugin the charger and test.

If this did work for you, keep me informed please !
