Hi all,
So I've been wandering various forums and message boards for weeks trying to figure out WHY my edge Lighting suddenly decided to stop working.
So here's the facts:
Edge Lighting is on and set to always show
Notifications for the apps I want are on sound and popup
Always on display is on and set to tap to display
Developer mode animation scaling set to 1x for all animation options
Edge Lighting works when the screen is on but not when it's off and locked
I even downloaded Edge Lighting+ incase it was an app update issue
It was bought from Samsung directly on launch day, is fully unlocked and is the 8/512 plus variant
I've factory reset the phone twice with zero luck
Now none of these settings have changed since I bought the phone and suddenly it decides "oh I don't want to show you notifications with my fancy edge Lighting when your screen is off"
The only new addition I can put to this is my new Galaxy Watch. That has to be interfering with it because nothing else has changed and it suddenly stopped when i had the watch (at least that was when I noticed it)
This is bugging the hell out of me because I really enjoy the edge Lighting feature, I utilise it at my desk frequently when I'm typing. I swear my iPhone was never this finicky 😂
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this? If you need screenshots or info I can proivde whatever is needed.
Thanks in advance!

give it a go.
it will light up when screen is off and assists edge lighting.
just to too the option of white listed apps and select ANY! apps you want to light up for.
cheers.
I've actually tried Glimpse and it didn't help the issue either, perhaps I configured it wrong but it definitely didn't work.
Sadly its the only time it didn't work for someone. Following prompts, after enabling permissions and turning off battery optimization for the app, only one step is to whitelist apps chosen to enable edge lighting. https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-glimpse-notifications-t3090575
link to XDA on glimpse and how many use it.

Takes a wee little patience setting up.
Theres 6 top apps out there and sooner or later ONE will work for you.

I use glimpse notification and it lights up the edge lighting when I get a notification on any app I tell it to

You, and I and 1000s of others have gimpse working fine and sadly too many, as expected want instant notofications for all apps without taking the time to set it up, and rush through trying to setup. Instead of finishing, they give up.
