Note 9 hybrid SIM not working

Hi All,

I bought the Note 9 hybrid 128GB via pre-order, but since I've had it I haven't been able to get my 2nd SIM to work properly.

I have SIM 1 from EE and SIM 2 from O2, both are UK numbers but O2 was a blank SIM configured for a corporate account.

If I try both always on (preferred config) SIM 1 is fine but SIM 2 fails on both call waiting and call forwarding. On the other 2 options just call forwarding fails. I very briefly had it working on the 3rd option (SIM card 2 to SIM card 1), but I realised a few days later that at some point it must have stopped again.

I bought this for its dual SIM capability, can anyone advise why it might not be working?

Many thanks in advance.

It turned out that when the vendor modified the account they made two mistakes.
1) moved the contract to data only *Facepalm*.
2) Assumed call waiting was enabled by default which it was not...

All sorted now!

Hi @SteakNinja

I too also have two sim cards in my Note 9.

 Sim 1 is o2.

Sim 2 is Vodafone Uk.

I've to this day not been able to get the option of Dual Sim Always On in the Sim Card Manager to activate.

I think it's because I'm Payg on both and call forwarding to anything other than Voicemail isn't allowed on that type of account.

That said I have my default set to Sim 1 o2 for calls , texts and data but I still receive text and calls  from sim 2 Vodafone.

However as I cannot activate voLTE on o2 as I'm payg and didn't buy my phone from them hence I'm not on o2 firmware on the Note 9 I cannot take a call on sim 1 and use data on sim 2 as data just stops.

If I only use sim 1 for everything then data remains on.

I feel it's not the phone that at fault but that of how the networks systems work.

I have read that if you get your device from a carrier then there can be some performance reductions on the competing SIM, such as no VoLTE, but mine came directly from Samsung and both SIMs are SIM only contracts. Presumably this should mean no software bias and at the very least I should be able to get calls and texts on both?

That's all I want to achieve, but did you face any configuration failures in SIM Manager when setting this up? Which option do you have in place?

Thanks

Hi.

Yes if I try turning Dual Sim Always On I see...

I have not set anything else up as far as I can recall.

Hi,

And you can still receive calls and texts on both?

Yes.

My default sim is sim 1 = o2 Network which has all calls  Texts and data set for it.

I already received texts to the Vodafone sim card and as a test had my partner ring me from her phone to my sim 2 Vodafone UK number and the call came through with no issues.

The only issue i face is if I make a call from my o2 sim and then try to surf using sim 2 Vodafone UK the mobile data stops working.

Clearly there is an issue here then, as I cannot...
Not sure how to approach this issue, but at least now I can be confident it should work.
Thanks and happy new year!

Certainly a conundrum.

So if your choosing say sim.1 as default for all calls texts and data what happens if someone calls you on your sim 2 ?

Do they hear a ringing tone etc ?

They do indeed hear a dial tone, but nothing occurs at my end.

Actually that used to be the case but now it simply wont connect, no texts can go out etc. Like the SIM isnt there, except it is and the phone acknowledges that.
