If you hit the 1/2 button, do these special characters show there?
You can also; start a new message and hit the Smiley then swipe across to a recycle sign (
). Here you'll find at least three of the symbols you're after.
Then for the § you just need to long-press on the S key. This will bring up a few options. One of them is the §.
