Shortcut for inverting colours (A70)

I know I can invert colours by going into the depths of the accessibility menu under Settings, but is there a way I can set something up to make this quicker?

I can't use my phone with a white background due to a visual impairment.  On my previous Android phone (a motorola), once I enabled invert colours once, then it appeared in my swipe-down menu from the top (quick menu?).  However, this doesn't seem to be the case on my A70.

I've found a nice looking accessibility menu I can add to the navigation bar, but the only options it seems to let me assign to it are Magnification (which there is already a shortcut for) and Accessibility Menu (which seems completely useless to me).  If I could make this button invert colours then I would be over the moon.

I read something about triple-tapping home but this doesn't seem to work and I can't find an option to enable it.

Delving deep into menus is a terrible experience for me, so I'm hoping someone can point me at a better option.  At the moment, this is keeping me using my old phone so although it might seem trivial to some, it's a bit of a dealbreaker for me.

I was also under the impression that on Android 9 there was an Edit option on the quick menu, but I can't find it.

I'd be really grateful if anyone could help!

That's really weird I don't know what benefit Samsung would get from ommitting that

Yes sometimes a grey import i.e a phone brought into the UK that's meant for another country may have its own flavour of firmware @mrgrieves

Can you download the phoneinfo app from the Playstore and check its active CsC.

Also if a phone has been supplied by a network then that network has it's own CsC on it and again its own flavour of firmware.

This can have an impact on available features.

I'm in the UK and purchased my Note directly from my local Samsung Experience Store.

I'm on Samsung One Ui 1.5 and Android 9

My CsC is BTU.

Ok so that's a CsC issued on unlocked Samsung phones supplied directly by Samsung.

I can only then think it's a phone model thing but I'd be suprised if that was so.

It's not exactly a flagship phone feature.

OK, I finally found a blog post elsewhere: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/help/colour-inversion-t3821920

Ironically, this was going from a Samsung to a Huawei, but the problem is the same. The app in the article (Tasker) costs a couple of quid, but when I followed the steps I was able to create a shortcut on my home screen that does colour inversion. When I have some more time I will play around with the app and see if I can do more with it, but at any rate this is a big improvement.

I also spoke to Samsung Support on Chat. Frankly, the chat experience isn't a good one and I felt like I knew more than the person I was speaking to (and their chat doesn't seem to properly work if you zoom in your browser...) but they also said that the A70 does not have this option.

We live in an age of unparallelled potential for helpingi people with accessibility needs, and the frustrating thing is that most barriers I face tend to be man-made. I feel like I'm constantly fighting the technology that's supposed to be helping me, and feel pretty let down by Samsung in this regard.

However, I do want to say thank you very much for the replies on here - you've put a lot of effort into helping me out, and it is inexplicable why the option isn't there on my phone.

I was hoping my assumption that the feature wasn't on your model of phone wasn't correct @mrgrieves  😞

It's certainly not a feature that your phone couldn't support in my humble opinion.

As I said it's not like this is a flagship phone feature !

If you want I'd suggest to send your feedback direct to the Samsung Developers via the Samsung Members App. Maybe if enough people send this type of feedback Samsung would implement this change.

You're very welcome for the help via this forum.

We're a friendly bunch.   :smiling-face:

Fiddling around a little more with tasker, I am actually liking it quite a lot. I can set up a list of apps and run a task when they start, which means I can automatically invert colours for apps that otherwise don't support it. So it looks like I might end up with a solution that is better than on my old phone after all. (Once I've sufficiently fiddled with it).

Phew! Much happier now.
