Galaxy A8 2018 MUST Get Android 10 - Petition

Samsung's update policy, which means every phone gets 2 major updates MUST change. The Galaxy A8 2018 launched in January 2018 with nougat, before the s9 and Oreo while the j7 duo launched 2 months later with Oreo . This means the j7 duo, sold at exactly the same time as the A8, probably for half the price, will get android 10 while the A8 will not. Also, most A8 owners bought it after Oreo rolled out, 2-3 months later so not updating the phone to the newest version on android and making it a year's update before a worse phone should not be acceptable. And this may happen just because it was launched with a 1.5 year old os and had it for about 2 months. The Samsung update policy of 2 years is a lie for the A8 and a 2017 devices - it is more like only 1⅓ years of updates. Also there is nothing that the A6 2018 and all of the 2018 j series do better than the a8, despite all being sold at the same time and they will get android 10. Last year there was a similar petition for A 2017 devices to get pie, but Samsung didnt update them. Hopefully they do read this and learn that they won't make more sales of newer devices if they don't update older ones - it would just further damage their reputation. We must convince them to do this not just for the A8, but other devices like the S8 and note8 and for future updates as well. Android 10 will not roll out to Samsung devices for months, but if this is started now we can let them know early on so they have no excuses of not having enough time to make a new update, etc

OMG this is literally what I was thinking about. I have A8 too and this is very sad that a device of this quality won't get Android 10. I mean yeah technically 9 was second update but samsung launched this phone with 7 when android 8 was released and updated it immediately, so it's nothing. There's still a hope that they will roll out update because of how premium this phone is, I think if they roll out for s8, which will be its' third, they should update a8 too

The problem is they won't roll out for S8, and therefore not A8 going by the nonsensical Samsung philosophy as A8 was sort of 's8 lite'. I still don't get how they can update budget phones like the j4+ and other less premium midrange phones like A6, A7 2018 and A40 and below which are all worse than A8. Samsung should apopt an update policy like apple, who actually look at the device specs before updating. This is really stupid and they must update the a8- if this means they must update the note8 and S8, sure! What difference would that really make- and if needed they could skip some very low end devices which would likely run smoother on pie or even Oreo in the case of the j4+ and J6+ to make room for these ones we paid s lot of money for just 1 year ago!

The speculation is that the A8 will get Android 10 but not the S8 as that was released earlier, Samsung  provide 2 years of major updates for devices.  A list has circulated  on the internet, though it is not official and will need to await confirmation from Samsung.  https://9to5google.com/2019/09/20/samsung-android-10-update-list-not-official/

The consumer group Consumentenbond bid to  make  Samsung  provide at least 4 years of updates or 2 years since a model was last sold , however they lost  a court case in the Netherlands in 2018.  The  final decision concluded

"Future acts” can’t be quantified today, and as such “the court declared the Consumentenbond inadmissible for demanding updates in the future because this requirement would insufficiently take account of future developments”  However whilst it was not stipulated in ruling, Samsung now have a larger banner with links to their update policy.

Unfortunately, the list mentions the a8/a9 star and star lite, which are two phones, also known as the a8 star(not a8) and A6+ Respectively in some countries. It has also been confirmed to be unnoficial but is likely what the real one would be. The a8 did launch with nougat however which going by Samsung's current policy which is clearly wrong, it hasalready received its 2 updates.

Dear Sirs I bought an A8 2018 on February 2018 I mean recently. Now I learned that likely it doesn't will get Android 10. Honestly and frankly this is a shame. Dear Samsung at this point mah we saying that I purchased a *****? Surely in the future never and never I will buy any smartphone branded Samsung. I know you don't care? Surely in the world there will be a loss for you. I  / we hope you can re-considering this strange situation. Thanks

Yes, The authorities must take action and look into this. Since the whole Instagram dark rolled out today people without Android 10 have not been able to experience the full dark Instagram, whereas the other phones which were released a month or two later are enjoying the benefits of it.

As a matter of fact this device is a 2018 device that samsung had to roll out this with android 8 not 7

And this is samsung fault and mistake that sold us a 2018 device with android 7.

On that time android 7 was for one year earlier.

So this is samsung responsibility that MUST roll out android 10 for a8 2018 like a7 2018 ,a6 2018 and .........

If Galaxy A8 2018 not get Android 10 update, I will stop buying thier products. Plain and simple. Do the same.
There are many other brands who offer better products for lower price.
