Hey,

I've noticed a problem with my A70 regarding trying to dim the screen when locking manually or expecting it to lock after screen timeout.

Basically, my phone won't sleep, at least not whilst charging. I spent a good while playing around with settings on my phone, such as timeout and lock screen settings. I also powered off the device but no luck.

After trying to figure out the problem further I discovered that the notification tray is being constantly updated every few seconds swapping between "Android system USB connector connected" and "Android system USB connector disconnected". So presumably this is what is keeping the phone awake as it thinks it is being constantly connected and disconnected from source USB source. I cleaned out the USB port but it was pretty clean to begin with. I'm not getting any notifications regarding any moisture detection.

The A70 charges just fine (though sometimes there is a slight delay to it recognising being plugged in) and it seems that the USB tethering interface is working well as I can use the remote debugging feature in Google Chrome (for web development purposes) just fine. As far as I can tell, there are no actual issues with the USB port - it functions as I would expect.

The A70 was last updated on the 14th August to "Security Patch level: 1 July 2019" and looking over the log of updates I see that "The charger/USB port's moisture detection algorithm has been improved" - so someone somewhere has been looking at this feature and I doubt it coincidence that my device has just developed a fault, given that I've not had it anywhere near moisture or excessive dirt.. and the port still actually works!

I've also tried Safe Mode but the issue persists. Also, if I power the device off, then plug it into the wall, power it on, the notification issue stops... until I unplug it/switch off the wall socket - then it comes back again.

Anyone else having similar problems?

After having a faulty phone for a week I finally solved the problem.

Initially I thought it could be software related, so I tried a lot of suggestions posted here. But none worked.

Although the device is still under warranty, I didn't  want to let it in the repair shop.

What worked for me was, after turning the phone off, spraying the USB-C port with an electronic contact cleaner (I had one which doesn't leave any kind of residue and evaporates rapidly - like this one: https://www.pcbtoolexpert.com/best-electronic-contact-cleaner/). I sprayed. A lot. It even dripped a bit from the port.

After the procedure, I waited a minute or so before turning the device on ... And it worked like a charm, it now turns off, there's no notifications ... it's like new.

So, now I suspect the problem might be cheap components (non-oxidation proof) and moisture, and that I will have to eventually repeat the procedure when the problem returns.

The nose reliable solution I have done is literally just use the phone until its dead. Let it die. I know it's painful to watch, and because of the glitch it Looks awful when the phone is at lower than 10 percent. But do it.

Then keep it off. Let it stay shutdown and charge it back to around 80 percent. This worked for me, then it came back so I did it again, and it hasn't come back since. I hope this works for you too!

The only difference is the phone seems to be working normally when it is plugged in and charging. Then the problem occurs again when its disconnected from the cable. The worest experiance ever.

Try one of this solutions:

https://thedroidguy.com/what-to-do-with-the-samsung-galaxy-a70-with-screen-flickering-issue-1111796

The first one worked for me (1 day has passed). I hope the problem does not appear again.
Edit:

Correction, the solution was to drain the battery until the phone turns off, then charge it and after a while turn it on (while it is connected).
