Hey,

I've noticed a problem with my A70 regarding trying to dim the screen when locking manually or expecting it to lock after screen timeout.

Basically, my phone won't sleep, at least not whilst charging. I spent a good while playing around with settings on my phone, such as timeout and lock screen settings. I also powered off the device but no luck.

After trying to figure out the problem further I discovered that the notification tray is being constantly updated every few seconds swapping between "Android system USB connector connected" and "Android system USB connector disconnected". So presumably this is what is keeping the phone awake as it thinks it is being constantly connected and disconnected from source USB source. I cleaned out the USB port but it was pretty clean to begin with. I'm not getting any notifications regarding any moisture detection.

The A70 charges just fine (though sometimes there is a slight delay to it recognising being plugged in) and it seems that the USB tethering interface is working well as I can use the remote debugging feature in Google Chrome (for web development purposes) just fine. As far as I can tell, there are no actual issues with the USB port - it functions as I would expect.

The A70 was last updated on the 14th August to "Security Patch level: 1 July 2019" and looking over the log of updates I see that "The charger/USB port's moisture detection algorithm has been improved" - so someone somewhere has been looking at this feature and I doubt it coincidence that my device has just developed a fault, given that I've not had it anywhere near moisture or excessive dirt.. and the port still actually works!

I've also tried Safe Mode but the issue persists. Also, if I power the device off, then plug it into the wall, power it on, the notification issue stops... until I unplug it/switch off the wall socket - then it comes back again.

Anyone else having similar problems?

It is hardware problem guys!

After having tried everything, I returned my phone to factory and they repaired it for free. It works fine now already for several weeks.

guys, i figured out something. if you charge your phone with other charger(with different voltage) the phone start to get crazy so i left the phone charging like a 5 minutes(until i notice that my phone start to get crazy) ,then i disconect it . and the notification just dissapears. So i guess it's a problem from the charger. right now every time that my phone is completely charged. I disconnect my charger, because i think that if you left the charger connected the next time you charge your phone it'll overcharge the phone and the problem will be back.

I hope this fix the problem

Drain the battery completely I mean COMPLETELY keep trying to switch it on until there is no sign of life then use the original charger to charge it to 80% do not allow it to reach 100, then switch on the phone the problem should disappear. Mine comes back when  I charge it to 100%, when it does I just redo the whole process again it is not a hardware problem as far I know

I believe you are correct Sir, this is not a hardware problem (well at least for 99% of the posters here...), but a Samsung problem - one which they, Samsung seem to be ignoring.  I spent almost 6-8 weeks+ on and off trying to fix this problem.  What a waste of my life.

-  It has cost me money and will continue to do so for many months.

-  I have lost my warranty trying to fix the issue myself, one which Samsung should have fixed in the first place.
-  I have had Samsung's 'Out of Warranty' services visit my home and had the Engineer simply turned around and walked away, simply because I updated the software manually using Odin (Samsung's firmware updater)!
-  There appear to be many potential many solutions, some temporary, some permanent.
-  There is no one specific fix it seems.
-  There may be no fix at all for your issue.

-  There's a chance it could be a hardware issue, either a manufacturing defect or one caused by the user.

-  I eventually had to get another phone and contract (having 3 in total!).

My frustration led me down a dark road but, I have overcome the issue by rooting and installing an alternative operating system (LineageOS - see https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a70 forum threads for the A70 details if you're interested).

This allowed me to install alternative Official Samsung Firmware, and I'm now using the following for some time and have done my best to try and break it (from speaking in the rain, using a car charger bought from the dollar/pound store, to using a cheap USB C charging cable) and the problem has not come back using the following firmware from Samsung:

AP_A705FNXXU3ASI2
BL_A705FNXXU3ASI2
CP_A705FNXXU3ASH1
CSC_OMC_OTF_A705FNOTF3ASI2

My regards to Samsung as a 'quality brand' and long-time user for many, many years, has gone from loyal, devoted and trusting, to utter disdain.

True so far it's been a week no issues so far I think I was using a 3.0a charger.  So I went back to the original one and it's been work fine.
