After having a number of Motorola G series phones, I decided to try a Samsung A40. Unfortunately it only picks up a few of the available networks wherever I am. I've compared my A40, old phone and friends phones side by side and it doesn't seem to be related to signal strength, frequency, channel or anything else. The hardware on the a40 itself seems ok as using a wifi finder app shows many more than the available networks in the wifi connection settings page. I have tried all the resets etc on this and other help sources to no avail so I can only assume it's a software issue. It does seem odd that a company of Samsungs calibre is not as good as its competitors and unless they can address it in an update, I wont be buying another as it seems a problem in the S10 also, so probably across the range. Wifi is an important thing for me as I cant now pick up many of the BT wifi hotspots in my contract I used to get at my regular haunts. Shame as otherwise it's a nice phone.
