A problem with the latest  major update  1809,  some users have reported Documents being deleted after upgrading and even if only a minority a bit of a headache. Microsoft have  pulled the update for now whilst investigations continue, a bit of a fiasco as you would think problems would have picked up in testing though have heard that some concerns were raised.  If by any chance anyone has updated and encountered problems am posting links with some information.  (Windows support site included in the Verge link) https://www.theverge.com/2018/10/6/17944966/microsoft-windows-10-october-2018-update-documents-delet....

That being said it is always a good idea to back up your files  https://lifehacker.com/back-up-windows-10-before-installing-the-october-update-1829556930

If interested a guide to the new features which you can enjoy at some point!   https://pureinfotech.com/windows-10-redstone-5-version-1809-new-features/

I'm currently enjoying Windows 10 on a brand new laptop after being on Vista for soooo long. Thankfully not encountered any update issues as of yet. *touches wooden desk*

@AntS No prob, hopefully you'll be impressed with both the laptop and Windows 10 😃  How did you find Vista, guess must have been ok if with it for a while.  Did not have it too long myself  :smiling-face-with-sunglasses:Generally though was not  that well received though not as maligned as ME (though that's going back a bit :smiling-face:    Opinions vary but official support for Vista has now been withdrawn  , in terms of Desktops Windows 7 still pretty popular http://gs.statcounter.com/os-version-market-share/windows/desktop/worldwide#monthly-201708-201709-ba...      A few articles on Windows  https://www.lifewire.com/reasons-to-keep-windows-vista-3507033  https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/hated-windows-versions/

I didn’t mind the move from previous OS’s to Vista (I still remember MS-DOS lol). Can’t say I pushed the OS too much though.

My old laptop’s a Samsung NP-R510, which came with Vista Home installed; but never been sure how it’d be when running on something later. :thinking-face: It mostly still works; despite being a tad long in the tooth; an ex-display model; the abuse/stuff I’ve dumped on it over the years… and the recent bootloop it got caught in (which prompted the long-overdue new laptop purchase).

oh right, thanks Ant.  Well despite some issues looks like you got good use of the Samsung Laptop, yeah I do have some memories of Ms Dos  :smiling-face:       Might be slightly geeky but here's  brief  history of Windows :winking-face:

Some Windows 10 tips for anyone who may find it useful

Unfortunately another Windows update with issues and seems  Cumlative Update for  Windows 10  1803 KB4462933  has now been pulled .    kb4462933-another-botched-update

I'v e had Windows 10 since the early days and few issues, however was caught out by this one.  Experiences may vary but there were problems with some  programs, though another device was ok-able to roll back fine though.  Some fine as reported on other forums but not great PR even if it was a minority affected.

The Windows 10 update (1809) has been re released after testing and rolling out,  I got it on one device from Windows Update (though you an install manually if desired)   and it  and seems to be fine. However apparently some issues with Windows Media Player  (though won't be a n issue for everyone nowadays)  ) and on Edge (in cases of recent Nvida Driver update)  https://www.zdnet.com/article/new-windows-10-1809-update-rolls-out-mapped-drive-bug-finally-fixed/  https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/windows-10-version-1809-cumulative-update-build-1776...
