What is the best way to connect this set up? Especially regarding making sure Soundbar has Dolby Atmos.
Is it simply hdmi from Blu-ray and Sky Q to tv connection box then hdmi to Soundbar ? Or something else?
regards

Hi @Dstew. Dolby Atmos is only supported with HDMI connections. Ensure you are using the ARC connection for the Soundbar, connect the HDMI cable from the TV out (Arc) to the HDMI In (ARC) input on the Connect Box. You should then connect Skyq and the Blu Ray player to the Soundbar, connect the HDMI in port to the HDMI out port of the devices. Press the source Button on the remote to select HDMI1 and HDMI2 ,the selected source is then displayed on the Soundbar Display.
No encoding needs to be selected for Bit stream for Audio Output on the Blu Ray,any secondary Audio also needs to be switched off. For SkyQ select Dolby Digital Plus for Digital Output as it is not the default.

Thanks for your reply. This is totally the opposite to what Samsung Live Chat said.
They were adamant that Dolby Atmos would pass through the TV to the soundbar if I connected sky Q and Blu-ray to one connect box then one connect box to soundbar.
if I connect as you suggest eg sky @ Blu-ray to soundbar then soundbar to one connect box will I get Dolby Atmos if watching Netflix or amazon prime on the TV apps?
thanks for your help.

HI @Dstew, well it is my understanding that Atmos pass through will only work when earc and HDMI 2.1 available, unless you have AVR that can decode the system. Bit about earc here https://www.whathifi.com/advice/hdmi-arc-and-hdmi-earc-everything-you-need-to-know
if you wish though you could try both methods. As far as Netflix/Amazon go seems only certain devices supported https://help.netflix.com/en/node/64066 http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-stream-dolby-atmos-surround-sound-on-amazon-fire-tv-devices/
