Apps stored on sd card dissappear if my phone turns off

Since the latest android update, If my phone turns off due to the battery going, any apps stored on my sd card dissappear from my app menu and don't seem to be available. I have a galaxy j5 and it have very limited internal memory space for my downloaded apps. Please can anyone advise if this is a bug in nougat?

If this was my situation I’d first try cleaning the contacts in the Sd Card.

If no change then reformatting the Sd Card May help (this may delete your data on the card) ,and if that didn’t work then I’d try another Sd card just in case the original is corrupted in some way. 

A Samsung Experience Store or Samsung Service Location can check the phone out if necessary.
