I also tried wiping cache partition but it doesn't solve the problem, before the update my battery worked for about 40hrs for 100%, now it doesn't last even 24 hours

Since thr last update my watch pro 5 is haemorrhaging battery power.

Twice now I woke up to see it had shut down with 0% after the previous charge the day before being 97%.

I just charged it up now to 88% and 45 mins later it's 82% . That 6 % doing nothing.

Even the battery monitor shows "no app usage". There's no data about what is draining through battery so badly.

Anyone know what the problem could be, or is having a similar experience?

I turned off "hey google" wake up but really nothing has changed with anything and I'd get around 2 days on a full charge.

Hi @louiscar Being a Galaxy Watch 5 there may be a bit of Battery degradation but seems that it times it has been quite severe.

ideas are to consider Power Saver Mode at times (even if not ideal) ,turn off unused health trackers, delete the cache and close Background Data.

An other idea is to wipe the cache partition:

You should have the battery fully charged before starting this process on your smartwatch.

1. The Samsung Galaxy Watch must be turned on.

2. Now press and hold the "HOME" and "BACK" buttons simultaneously until you see the Samsung logo with "Rebooting".

3. Now release both buttons immediately and now press the home button (top right) quickly one after the other.

4. You are now in the boot menu of the Samsung Galaxy Watch. In this menu you can scroll with the "HOME" button by pressing it repeatedly.

5. Now navigate to the menu item "RECOVERY" and then press and hold the "HOME" button. This will reboot the Samsung Galaxy Watch into Android recovery mode.

6.You are now in recovery mode, which is similar to that of Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

7. Now press the "BACK" button (lower button on the right) until you have selected the menu item "WIPE CACHE PARTITION". To select it, press the "HOME" button once.

8. Now select "YES" by scrolling down and then select the entry with the home button.

9. The Wipe Cache partiton will now be executed on your Samsung Galaxy Watch. This takes a few seconds. Afterwards, the recovery menu is displayed again. Now select "Reboot Now" to restart the Samsung Galaxy Watch.

you may prefer a visual guide as shown here, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mvRvEsAPpE

However you may need to reboot/Reset https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10003368/

Hi James,

Thanks for replying.

Degradation is expected but as I say this is a sudden reduction of 2 days to 14 days over a few days. The only thing I can think of is the software update.

My current test was 88%. No change no app usage and 2 hours later it's at 77%.

I appreciate the walk through on getting into recovery mode.

I'm trying this as I write

Hi again @ James4578

I've tested this now and clearing the cache seems to have sorted this. Now I've recorded a drop of 9% over 6 hours which much much better. Hoping it'll continue as I monitor it.

Why didnt Samsung support suggest it? They went through the usual basic troubleshooting tips ignoring the logic and after that was a suggestion to send it in for repair.

Anyway James, thanks for your help and suggestion. I didn't think about clearing thr cache. You've saved me a lot of grief 👍

Hi, I'm also experiencing the same after UI8 update a week ago, the battery has gone down from 100 to 32 in 8 hours (during bed time). In addition the touch is very slow in responding. I followed the instructions to wipe clear cache once and it was still draining fast. Wiping second time now as I'm writing, whilst the watch is charging. Is it UI 8?

Update: after several unfuitful attempts to wipe cache partition, i decided to factory reset, though initially sceptical as the battery dropped from fully charged to 72% after reset and restore. Upon checking the battery status, it displayed 'learning user behaviour ' at 66% and stayed for a few hours before dropping to 62 them 57 10 hours or so later.

Before going to bed I fully charged the watch, 7 hours later, it's at 88%, not great but much better than before the reset.... hope that helps frustrated watch 5 pro owners like myself

40 hours before is really bad. I think your battery is severely degraded.

Before the update and after wiping cache, I was getting 1% per hour. One UI8 is heavier by about a third. Ie. 1.35%. Still a good 3 days and my battery is still the original.

Your b4 figures shows your battery is EOL. If you don't fancy upgrading, it'd probably be worth sending it to Samsung for a battery replacement.

So, today 02/26/26, my watch finally stayed alive for more than 24hrs for the first time in forever. I went to bed last night with 66% and was hesitant to let it go. But the battery life said 1 day 4 hrs. So i said lets try. I woke up at 0500 and it had 63%. (Had all kind of notifications coming in to trigger watch active). Now I just put it to charge at 12%. It actually lasted for more than 48hrs..... I am so confused. How can it go 48hrs on a charge, then less than 7hrs on another charge.... @samsung, please get this right! I can't afford a new watch every year.....

a wild statement given this thread clearly shows that not everyone has the problem. eg. ME.
After wiping my cache I get a drain of 1.25 % p/h which is totally acceptable. The so called "planned obsolescence" is likely to be battery state / wear and can be rectified by having it replaced.

1 UI8 definitely uses more battery. Depending on how you use the watch eg, AOD or not this may be ok. I tend to get between 1.25% - 1.35% per hour and my display is not always on.

battery state needs to be factored in. I wish Samsung provided data on that as the battery degrades

Here is my experience. All good until yesterday, some gradual battery degradation over time, usually charging every other day unless I go running (then same day recharge needed). Yesterday: very quick discharge during the day (no running, 55% down to 12% in less than 4 hours), switched off, charged while off to 100%, powered on and down to 68% in first hour. Went to bed with 55%, woke up 7 hours later (this morning) with 5% (normally lose 10-15% over night). Put watch on charge, up to 60% in less than 20 minutes, wiped cache (kept watch on charger all time), 25% battery after reboot (recalibrated?). Then battery level dropped from 25% to 15% (while watch was still on charger) and charged up to 70%. Two hours later (now) it's at 57% turned battery saver on, see if it lasts.

Why I talk about planned obsolescence? Well, an old battery can do reasonably well if you look after it, but will degrade sharply after just one or two deep discharges. And guess what happens if a software update changes device behaviour slightly, so it begins to drain more battery? You know your device, worked out a routine, charge it at certain times and never let the battery go below 30%. Then all of a sudden you get an unexpected drain and end up with 5%. Have this happened 2 or 3 times and you need a new battery.

Sure, it may just be a software bug, and it may be fixed very quickly, but the damage is already done. And this is not my first device it has happened to.
