I've tried to look it up on the app and online, but I couldn't find a way to set the mat mode for the pictures I batch uploaded from the USB drive. And it always set the default ugly mat that doesn't blend in to the environment at all. The ugly mat really takes away from the "real picture frame" experience.

The only way I to work around this is to first select each individual art work and customize the mat. It is extremely tedious if I have 100+ art work upload each time... (Even worse, after I select each art work, customize the mat and go back. It jumps back to the beginning of my album... It is really hard to track which art work I have set the frame and which I haven't)

It'll be great if there was an option to set the default mat for all pictures in the app's settings!

To find out more, please take a look at the link below from our friends at Samsung US.

I have now worked for many hours to try to fix this stupid (automatic frame) function. The only "FRUSTRATING" solution is to set the frame for each individual picture. This is NOT acceptable. What do you think - we only want to put 2 or 3 picture into "The Frame"? Even worse if you like to set up a new slideshow of another couple of hundred pictures you have to start from the beginning. Because you have to use the internal memory space which is only 500MB - and not the USB Stick.

As well i noticed, that it is not enough to set the picture size to exactly 3840x2160px - no .... it depends which tool you use for resizing. It is working with MS paint - but not with lightroom or darktable or pixmillion or whatever batch resize tool i tried. Finally it worked with MS Powerplay for batch resize.
This product "The Frame" is unusable and SAMSUNG is not listening to its customer. This will be for sure my last buy from this company.

Really Samsung? This is not a difficult enhancement to let users decide what default mat to apply to the art collection that customers pay to use. A fix or at least some indication of intent to add this functionality will help me to not question if I should continue my subscription at the end of the free trial.

Just wanted to add this here just in case anyone else is still looking. The biggest thing you have to do is size each image to the correct resolution, I suggest always getting the highest resolution image you can before resizing. I was looking all over for a fix and found this site: Image to Art Converter for Samsung The Frame (decotvframes.com) Which will convert your image to the proper size it needs to be for the Frame TV. Once you upload the photo to the app you will then see an option for No Matte. I've tried it on several photos and it worked. I hope this helps!

This is a strategy to sell bezels. If you simply want a white border around a picture, now you need to buy the bezel instead of changing it with software. Samsung is scamming its customers by showing pictures with a black bezel and white border in their advertising, but they really can’t set the white border for all pictures and have to do it manually for each pic (which is impossible and frustrating). With the default black bezel, the pictures don’t look like art work but it looks like a TV. Pretty shady stuff being done by a company which makes high end smartphones with complex software.

I agree 100%. I upload my own images for each Holiday (Thanksgiving/Fall, Halloween, Christmas, ETC). Each collection has about 100 pictures. Once I upload, they all have the default matte border. I hate it. I have to go into each individual picture and change it to full screen one at a time. Each one takes like a minute and it's a waste of a couple hours every time I change my collections.

Also, I hate that you can't create folders/playlists inside of your uploaded images. For example, have a folder for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Etc). Then I could upload all pictures and just play the folder I want, rather than deleting and uploading each collection everytime I want to change.

Thanks for starting this board. Such a cool TV with such minor flaws that are easily rectified if Samsung bothered to spend a small amount to improve the customers experience.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who shared the frustrations with this! I had about 450 images that I wanted to remove the matte, and doing them all one by one wasn't an option. I found a "dev-way" to upload them locally through an API and setting the matte in the process, but it had some severe limitations which stopped me from going down that route. Eventually I solved it mirroring my phone with the samsung remote app, and writing a script to click move the mouse on my scree, clicking the required sequence of clicks to remove the matte. I ran this script in a loop for about 2.5 hours, and after that all my 450 images are set to no matte. I can do a more extensive writeup on this if anyones interested

Regardless it's beyond me that there's no way to set the default matte for imported pictures, might be an intentional move from Samsung to push users to their art store. Don't they make enough money through the ads they're pushing to my freaking TV menu?

Hi, thanks for sharing this info. Your solution is far too complicated for me. The only thing I have managed to do is changing the resolution of my pictures hoping that would at least give a full frame display (it hasn't) . We have a 2019 Frame with maybe even less possibilities for tweaking things anyway. I just don't understand why Samsung offers 3 different options for their own art but not for art that's made/uploaded by their users.

If anyone in the meantime has found a manageable way to work around this, please share!

In the end I found an easy solution. For those with a Samsung phone, download goodlock module and routines +.

I use routines to build a touch macro that opens smartthings app, opens Frame device tile, and opens the virtual remote. using the virtual remote I select the painting on the screen, remove mat, then go back and toggle one over to the next painting.

Set the macro to Loop as many times as you have paintings and let it run wild. Took about an hour to do 200 paintings. You will be unable to use your phone during that time, btw.

Thanks Sdb1, seems like a solid solution. I stumbled upon the following post and github repo. Works great and gives a lot of control. The specific code below is to remove the default matte border and move to the next image. Would just need to loop for how many photos you have:

import time

# Remove borders

for i in range(168😞

print(f"Removing border for {i+1} images")

# Remove borders

tv.shortcuts().enter()

time.sleep(0.5)

tv.shortcuts().up()

time.sleep(0.5)

tv.shortcuts().enter()

time.sleep(0.5)

for
