It's not clear that you have the same complaint... the numbers display for me - the problem is that it doesn't show *just* a number or something non-intrusive.

Every time the volume is changed (with matching Samsung sound bar), the left side of the screen gets a large display, showing the output device name (scrolling), along with the numbers above and below the current setting.

We just want a small indicator, and not something that distracts.

Is there a hidden setting somewhere? If not, can we get the option added by Samsung?

Desperately needed and shouldn’t be hard to implement. When used in concert with a Samsung sound bar the OSD doesn’t trigger IF you use the soundbar remote. No reason the same can’t be done when using the TV remote. Functionality is there. Just needs some logic options.

I contacted Samsung support through multiple channels - direct call, Twitter, etc. - literally begging them to fix this, and they all said that this was a feature, not a bug, thanks, we'll pass this along to our development team, etc.

My solution, which is not ideal, is to use a Logitech Harmony remote. I have a SONOS Arc, so when I change the volume for a given activity, it sends a command only to the SONOS soundbar, not the TV, so I avoid having to see any onscreen volume indicator.

The problem with this (other than the additional expense and complexity) is that Harmony doesn't support voice commands, so I'm unable to use that function either with the TV itself or with a connected media player.

Samsung, PLEASE make this change. It cannot be that complicated!

This is certainly one solution. And props to you for trying to reach out to them on basically any available channel. I’ve had zero luck.

I also have a Logitech harmony but unfortunately, my sound bar is Samsung brand. So, even though my volume command is sent only to the sound bar - the TV still shows the dang volume level. This is the same result if I use the remote that came with the sound bar. Ugh.

Samsung, this is not a *feature*. It is an annoying bug. Roll it back, please remove this stupid volume osd. If I really want to know the volume level, I’ll read the display on the sound bar. Thanks.

In my case, what annoy me is that i have a wireless headset for my Xbox, paired directly with the Xbox, so to watch TV or Streaming i use the TV's sound, but when i play Xbox i mute the TV because i'm using my phone.

But if you mute the TV, this popup keeps showing and i have to change the audio mode to a "fake optical" to mute the tv without the annoying popup remembering me that i muted the TV.

Yes this is a super annoying "feature". I'm seriously considering blacklisting samsung devices from my future purchases. First the HW-K950 flagship soundbar with a poorly documentet lack of support for atmos over Arc, and then this "high-end" Q80T TV with a massive, annoying and distracting volume display. Give us the option to remove it, or at least decide the size and location on screen. Feels like i'm buying cheap non-branded chinese copies.

Feels like they have no-one that actually quality checks the products anymore. Not everyone lives in houses. Quite a few of us live in apartments, and with major volume differences in dialouge scenes and action scenes, sometimes it sadly is necessary to micro manage volume.

What is with showing the next and previous volume level? I can count - if I'm at volume level 20 I know the next number is going to be 21, and the previous number is 19.

This is absolutely insane. I can't wrap my head around the idea that some designer at Samsung thought this would be useful information to show onscreen that people needed to know.

The old Samsung TV I had from 8 years ago had an unobtrusive volume display - just showing the current volume level and nothing else - that didn't cover content. I want to buy a TV to watch the content! Not to see a user-interface! I want to buy the latest Samsung TV but this obtrusiveness is a dealbreaker for me.

Does anyone at Samsung have even a basic concept of good user-interface design?!?

Please can anyone tell me that there is a way to turn off this idiotic "feature"?
