Recently noticed a dark spot in the top right hand corner of my Samsung TV. There is no damage and it is always clean. I have no idea what has caused this or how to fix it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Please confirm the model number of your TV, this is located via Settings > Support > Contact Samsung. You can also find this on the back of the TV.

Does this happen on all sources? If you have a HDMI cable connected to your TV, please try another HDMI cable to rule this out.

Can you also confirm when and where you purchased your TV exactly?

Hi sorry for the delay in response.

Unfortunately Samsung are worse than useless. Would only repeat "unfortunately out of warranty" offered an engineer at our cost or a discount on a new Samsung TV.

Samsung customer services is diabolical, keep you going round in circles.

We had an engineers report, diagnosis was the leds were failing, only option was a new screen, cost as much as the tv when purchased.

However I'd initially purchased the TV via credit card, so used section 75 consumer credit act for charge back.

These tvs are clearly not fit for purpose.

Our TV was purchased via John Lewis in 2020 and came with a manufacturer’s five year warranty. John Lewis raised a service case with their local specialist engineer/ repair service partner who had to cancel two original call out dates due to parts not having arrived. They are now in stock and due to be installed in a few weeks. I believe the full screen is to be replaced but not the entire tv … but I will update this thread when there is any news.

When we purchased our tv through Samsung themselves we enquired about a 5 yr warranty and were directed to their insurers Domestic & General. D&G stated there was no warranty available for our TV.

Our screen has now been replaced under warranty by John Lewis’ regional TV service partner and so far all is well. The replacement screen came with a spare main PCB and ironically the new screen did not work well with either our original PCB not the new spare. A third PCB worked and the TV is working fine and no more fuzzy black spots (for now!).

Any advice on possible preventative measures to avoid a repeat?

Know this is probably a dead post. But I have the same model AND the same exact dead spot in the same area. When the TV was 13 months old it had a complete video fail (inverted colors, blocky/pixelized, torn video). When I contact Samsung at that time they refused to cover the costs. After spending 2 hours on the phone with them they only agreed to cover the cost to send their tech out, but $0 for parts or labor. This was our 5th Samsung TV purchase. Of those five tv's (32,50, 55 curved, 55 Q, and 75 inch) two have failed. The curved 55" started to get purple spots all over the display. The 75" developed a black spot in the corner like yours within about 90 days after the video fail. We now have 4 dark spots, the TV is 3.5 years old and was about $1,200 when purchased.

Also, when I started talking to my friends about this 3 of my friends said they had the same problem with their Samsung tvs, and shortly after that my mothers same model but in 65" had the same problem but much worse. Thankfully she had purchased the extended warranty through Best Buy, and they replaced the TV.

We are done with Samsung. This is either engineered obsolescence, or known manufacturing defects overlooked or swept under the rug to avoid a recall or class action. Either way it is working in their favor but I will not be contributing anymore to their bottom line.
