Subtitles don't show up when using Airplay

I have tried to use Airplay to cast some programs I am watching on my ESPN+ app from my iPad to my Samsung TV (model is NU7100) and even though I turn on CC / subtitles on the app, when it's cast to my TV, the CC/subtitles just don't show up. It's rather frustrating. My firmware is updated. This also happens with my other video streaming apps like CBS or streaming from Safari. Would really appreciate any help or advice on this! Thank you!

I've read a lot about this and it seems to be a problem for everyone with third party equipment.

I have the same issue, brand new Samsung Tv model, latest AirPlay firmware, simple subtitles are not showing. Wtf?
