@Joanal1983 and everyone else who have this issue with YouTube...

Has anyone of you tried downgrading the TV's firmware version?

I had a problem with my Philips TV.. I couldn't cast YouTube videos from my laptop to the TV.
At first Philips Support told me that the problem is NOT in the TV but in the YouTube app or even my laptop.
Then they said that downgrading the software is NOT possible because the TV might not accept the older version.
I did a lot of research and found the downgrade files... I performed it and the problem was fixed... This way I proved to Philips that they are wrong and that the problem comes from their software...

I think that your problem might be fixed by downgrading the software.

I found a website which has the older firmware versions of your TVs. PM on Twitter @Prisoneer and I will give you more information.

Hello,

Yesterday I updated my 55q7fn 2018 to the latest firmware available 1310.4 and Youtube app cannot reproduce videos at 2k or 4k. Before the update this was working fine.

Whant can we do? I've reinsalled the app and I've seen other users with the same problem with this new firmware.

Thanks,

I got the update last night and have sporadic issues with YouTube 4k now. I tried the trailer mentioned on the US forum and it was fine, but other content switches down to 360.

As people have already logged with Samsung, I sent a report to YouTube. Might be best if more people do that too, so we've covered both angles.

You can do this in settings on the TV app, and it sends the report from the TV, and they give a link to fill in more information too, which you can do from phone, tablet etc.

Let this be a lesson to all Samsung TV owners.. NEVER update firmware unless you read forums first to see what new side-effects they will introduce.

In every single update they push, they have introduced new bugs and a LOT of them have been breaking core functionality. And of course there is no way to downgrade and Samsung will fix (will they?) those bugs in many months after they broke your TV.

The only 4k video that breaks up for me is the one 4k video I happen to own - Birds of Prey. I don't have a problem with any of the free stuff. Anybody got an example of something that's free, that everyone can try, to see if it doesn't work for them? I'm sure it will help Samsung/YouTube if we can report an example of something that doesn't work, so they can try it and see.

You can try with this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcMlPl9jArM

By default it opens the video at 360p...instead of 4k.

UE55NU8002 Youtube app - 4K is not working and defaulting to 360p, even 1440p defaults to 360p now most of the time. Youtube app just can't be bothered to properly download data.

Youtube in browser works fine though.

Helpdesk told me that they can't do anything and I better write and call to Google. I've asked them WTF because Samsung deployed bogus firmware to my TV and now it is having all sorts of problems and does not work as advertised and this is somehow not their fault??? And I have to solve this by calling Google?????

Hello,

I am from Romania and I have the same problem with 2 Samsung NU7402 TVs.

I also tried with another router on both 2.4 and 5 Ghz wireless connections and I had the same problem.

When the TV is connected to the internet by cable everything is working fine.

I also tried to watch videos using the Youtube app on a Playstation 4 and everything is working fine on wireless and over the cable.

So I am thinking the problem is with the TV and the Youtube app only when the TV is connected to the internet over WIFI.

I hope Samsung will fix this:)

Same issue here since the update.

You can manually select 4k.. but if it fails to buffer once its defaulting to 320p and does not scale up again. The app still thinks its streaming in 4k as it highlights the 4k option, but if you select it, it will show 320p instead..

Samsung uses standard corporate tactics - blame somebody at the end of the chain and make a victims solve their own issues.

From the customer perspective I give squat regarding what company broke advertised functionality. Samsung's firmware broke Youtube - well, that's Samsung's fault.
