topic Your youtube app now enforces sign in ? in TV

Hi. I ave a UE40MU6400 TV on which I have regularly watched youtube videos since I got it (2018 ?) This week, the youtube app has started requiring sign-in each time I try to watch. I don't want to have to type in my 20-random-character-password (on a TV screen using a rather clunky TV remote) and then wait for a 2FA text each time I select youtube. This is a waste of time and a complete PITA ! What can be done about it...

There used to be an option to "watch as a guest", but whilst this option still appears, it does not now remove the requirement to sign in.

This new sign-in requirement does not apply when I access youtube on any of my three laptops, on my PC, on my iphone or on my Kindle. These all use Firefox as a browser - none of them use any specific youtube app. Only my TV with its youtube app seems to have this problem.

@squeezeboxman: I believe that this is an app-specific issue, and not something that can be resolved without signing in. Once you do sign in, it should remember your details so you won't be required to repeat the process each time you access YouTube.

If you choose not to sign in then you will need to select 'Watch as a guest' each time the app is opened. This only applies to the YouTube app, and isn't a requirement when accessed on a browser.
